Monteverde is definitely different from La Fortuna. It's higher in altitude so very windy and much cooler. There are so many hills everywhere!
We reached the town after a very crowded bus ride and then boat ride across Lake Arenal. Another bus ride followed. The scenery was amazing. The vegetation is so lush and all you can see is green everywhere.
We had lunch at the Tree House. It's expensive and caters to tourists. It's well worth the price to see how they constructed a restaurant literally around a tree.
We came back to the hotel for a wine and cheese party and ended up staying there all night and listening to old music. We were the only ones there!
We got up first thing the following morning to hike through the Santa Elena park. The plan was to be there by 7 am to see wildlife. Well, I froze my butt off (hands and feet all numb) and all we saw were trees. Oh, I can't forget about the one millipede at the end. Very exciting. I'm not having much luck with wildlife here!
We went straight from there to zip lining. I think we were tempting fate by trying this on Friday the 13th, but it went off without a hitch. It was amazing! We did a Tarzan jump were you free fall until your lines catch you and you swing back and forth through the trees. The guide had to push most of us off the ledge to make us go! It was thrilling.

Brenda Lajeunesse I can't believed the guide had to push you off the tree. Yahoo!!! Better you than me. Well done!! So much for the memory books!
