Day 3: Today was our first day of class - and the studio and lecture hall was beautiful. The classroom was about a 45 minute walk from our hotel on the island adjacent to Gamla Stan (which was a long, hot walk haha). But once we got there, it was beautiful. Being able to be taught in one of the old military bases in Stockholm was amazing, and it was great learning about ways to be sustainable.
Lecture was not that long as afterwards we did a tour of central Stockholm. We were able to tour some of the oldest parts of the city, and were able to see the difference of what is modern and what is old. We toured the business and shopping district of Stockholm, which I noticed looked too modern. I thought that we were not in the city anymore but we were. We also saw that a part of the city was going to be torned down to make way for new housing. This part of the city was old and holds most of Stockholm's culture and heritage in its architectural style. Tearing it down to make way to modern buildings loses that culture, and thats how the business and shopping districts looked like. However, they did look beautiful and it was great to have toured it.
Class ended around 1pm, so a group of us went to go grab a bite to eat and shop. I ended up buying gel insoles (since I brought the wrong shoes so I needed support) and ice coffee. I also got some souviners and postcards to send out to family and friends. Afterwards, we came back to the hotel and chilled till dinner.
Our first class dinner was later that night. We went to some vegetarian place (which I was not looking forward too but I was hungry, and hey it was a free food lol). Suprisingly, it was delicious. Swedish veggie food is really good. I ended up having some pasta, salad, BREAD. Omg. Thats all I have been eating. So good.
Afterwards, a couple of us just went to the grocery store and got a smoothie and just chilled for the rest of the night. On to Day 4 in Stockholm!
