Mambo vipi everyone (swahili greeting:)
Thank you for all your greetings. It's always nice to hear from you. I've made it safely to Zanzibar. It was quite a journey getting here. I flew from Copenhagen->Stockholm->Rom->Ethiopian->Tanzania->Zanzibar. It was a shock when we got of the plane, because it was so unbelievebly hot, espescially compared to Denmark. The temp. is about 35-40 degrees, so you sweat constantly:) From the airport we took the local bus (Dala Dala) to the school. We had two Dala Dalas, which are not that big for 55 student and all our luggage. A bit crammed! When we arrived at the school we got our rooms appointed. I'm staying in one of the bungalows together with 3 other girls. Another danish girl and two from Norway. The bungalow is facing right out to the volleyball court, which is really nice. One of the first things we did was go swimming in the ocean.
This first week we have been busy getting to know oneanother and playing a lot of different games/sports. Everyone seems really nice. I've espescially thalked a lot with 3 other danish girls. We are a lot alike. We have also been busy with our diving course, with some theory and learning the basics at the pool. We have had two pool dives now and the next will be in the ocean. I'm really looking forward to this. We have also had some swahili. In the evenings we hang out at our bar or play some more games. You kind of loose trak of time here:)
The school is located in Paje and it is really buatiful here: white sandy beaches, clear blue water, palm tress and many colourful flowers. The locals are also very kind. There was a football match against the staff yesterday. They played relly well.
Today I've washed some of my clothes. Well tried hehe! Don't really know how clean they got:) Normally there are to ladies who will wash your clothes, but I have to get some money first.
Tomorrow we are all going to Stone Town (the main town on Zanzibar). So I'm real excited.
It's apparently not going to be as easy as I thought to keep en touch. There is only one computer at the school and many people who want to use it, and I've also found out that we can't uploade pictures on the computer, so we have to go to Stone Town.
There is a saying here called TIA and it stands for This Is Africa, and is used when something isn't really working as it would back home for eksample when there's no more water to take a shower (happend yesterday:), no electricity, the bus didn't come or was really late and so on. I think it's pretty funny! We have used it a couple of times.
They have a real laid back attitude here. Hakuna Matata explains it pretty well.
I guess that's it for now. I'll try and get some pictures uploaded as soon as possible.
