So here I am in Tamarindo. Ive heard alot about Tamarindo so thought Id check it out. I had to get a private shuttle bus to Tamarindo as there is no direct public transport from Mal Pais to Tamarindo owing the terrible state of the roads. I would have had to catch a number of different buses in order to get there which would have taken over 8 hrs. So I bite the bullet and forked out the $40 (25 pounds) for a private shuttle to bring me directly here which took just over 2hrs.
So after forking out so much money on transport my intention is to lay low and spend as little as possible whilst here. Which turned out very hard to do as Tamarindo, owing to it being very touristy, offers loads to do and its more expensive here aswell. But I managed it as I spent the 2 days wandering around, spending little as possible and relaxing on the beach and enjoying cold beers watching the sunset. Ive made sure to make the most of the locations and ensured that I am on the beach with my sandals, book and beer to watch the awesome sunsets, as they are breathtaking.
On the second day I met up with one of the lads I shared a dorm room with in San Jose, a really cute british lad who is travelling Costa Rica and Ecuador. We enjoyed a really nice evening watching the sunset and listening to a free open musical event and later had a few beers. Ladies- he was so cute and so intellegent and such good company but nothing happened-doh!
So all in all I really liked Tamarindo, despite the fact that it is very touristy, it has loads to do, a great beach and great nightlife, so all in all a thumbs up for Tamarindo. So on to the next place La Fortuna which is inland as even though ive thoroughly enjoyed travelling the coast and the beaches have been awesome the promises of rich, dense cloud forestys calls to me.
So onto La Fortuna......
