I felt that yesterday´s update was perhaps a bit inadequate and also had to check out one or two things on the internet so felt the need to add a little more. The journey down through Argentina started in the Lake District and followed route 40 (apparently very famous and also the route- ish that Butch Cassidy and Sun Dance Kid took at the turn of the last century- thought I´d give bank robberies a miss as the cops look quite scary out here!). Until arriving in El Chalten and seeing the spectacular Fizroy Massif the scenery was very barren and bleak with the odd sheep here and there and maybe the odd guanaca (rather like a small and cuter version of a lama). Not many cows around but that´s probably because they´ve eaten them all. If I wasn´t a veggie then I´d be in food heaven with the size of the steaks! Oh well maybe I´ll come back a size zero or that might be wishful thinking.
So far the Patagonian winds haven´t kicked up too much and not rubbing it in but it´s still very warm and sunny here although I´m sure that will change the further south we get. Just been out to the Merino Glacier which was absolutely awesome and still moving forward and quite a rate. We were hoping that where it´s impacting with the rocks there would be a big explosion of ice and water but alas not today.
Update on Peggy... still not fixed so it´s good old public transport tomorrow as we head back into Chile for a few days and the wonders of camping for three nights next week.
How did Wales do in the end at rugby as they were winning a short while ago? Also love the messages but not 100 % sure who Gene Genie is as there could be a few!!
Anyway will update this after the camping trip.
