Well I´ve made it as far south as El Calafate in Patagonia despite Peggy breaking down yesterday and still being very poorly. It has provided an even more bizarre sight with one huge yellow mercedes truck towing another throw Argentina! Hopefully the brilliant Mercedes technician that is being flewn down here will get it fixed if not then there´ll be another plan I´m sure. This week has been some very long travelling days with at least three 10-12 hour drives. It is quite exhausting sitting in a truck doing not a lot and stopping every now and again for food. Luckily it´s not too tough and i seem to be acclimatising to doing nothing rather well actually. I´ve taken things a little easier in terms of scary activities and opted for lounging in the sun on the top of a mountain having got there be cable car (very odd to see a blue and white argentinian flag flying in the breeze). Oh yeah did a bit of glacier walking yesterday which was quite mild but good all the same...and some spectacular icebergs.
Now deep in Patgonia and having travelled through some huge barren areas the scenery now is quite stunning- lots of Glaciers, Lakes and mountains. Got some long hikes coming up this week in Torres Del Paine which should be very enjoyable and hopefully not as tough as the volcano walk! Off to Merino Glacier tomorrow which I´m sure will be spectacular and if really lucky great huge pieces will fall off (but not tip the boat over!).
Still haven´t got any photos sorted out so apologies that you won´t get to look at the moment- mind you there are some pretty grim ones of me on the Glacier! Oh well got to have a bit of a power nap before dinner.
