And I'm off!!!
If you are reading this just after Its appeared online, it's 5 am in the morning and I will be pedalling my way towards the Munda Biddi trail, a 900km bike trail. The trail starts to the North East of Perth in Mandaring sculpture park. Personally I am Intrigued by the concept of a sculpture park, do we have them in England? and if so why have I never been to one? The trail heads South through the forests and national parks that run to the East of Perth and then down to the coast. "Munda Biddi" means 'path through the forest' in the Noongar language (szuby_snacks coming at you with the scooby_facts... oww!).
After leaving the relative safety of my house in East Perth I will be cycling 35km to the city border. I say relative
because you should see and hear some of creatures I live with. Harry the Possum is fine, actually I'm going to miss harry but I'm not sure what's worse the outback or down the back of the kitchen cabinet.
In typical fashion after a nice couple of weeks in the high 20's the temperature has jumped up to the high 30's and fire warnings have been issued to parts of the state. I am watching the situation closely but for the moment my path is clear, also today should be a cool 29C so I want to kick on.
(scooby_fact: Perth is in it's 7th year of drought. This year temperatures in march have been 7c hotter than the average)
One of the great things about the Munda Biddi is that there are purpose built campsites and log cabins available to use for free. My first stop is the Carinyah campsite, so until then.
