Day 7, Mount Barker to Albany, 50km
So after my tiring day yesterday I knew I could take it a bit slower today. I pitched up in the nicest campsite I have stayed in so far. The grass was so lush and thick that you didn't need a camping matt, natures cushion was good enough. I had set my alarm for 9am but found myself coming to around 6am, bloody body clock! I woke up and sat making breakfast in the outdoor camp kitchen. As soon as I opened my food bag I got accosted
by a flock of large magpie like birds. They seemed to have no fear of me which made me fear them. They stood there surrounding me making very threatening and demanding noises. I have got some great pics and vids of them. Soon enough they b*****ed off once they realised I wasn't going to feed them. So back on my own I sat there waiting for my pan to boil and watching the sun come up between the trees. After relaxing for a couple of hours longer I made my way onto the Albany highway and started my short ride down the road. Soon enough I rolled into Albany. The ride in wasn't as scenic as I thought it would be, I thought you would see sweeping views
Of the ocean but unfortunately not. I noticed a camping shop so I decided to pop in, I needed some more gas. I swear it fell silent when I walked in with my high-viz, gloves and lycra on, maybe it was the smell. I decided I wouldn't go anywhere else till I had showered.
I now have a rest day in Albany. I really want to go to Whale World, according
to their literature, "you don't know Albany until you have visited Whale world" so I better go. The irony is there are no buses, you can either drive or cycle, great!
I will now leave you with a quote from a very famous anchorman.
"they say sandiego means whales vagina in German"!
