hey guys,
we have been in Taupo for a week now, we was going to get a job here but it seems as if taupo gets very cold in the winter, we felt it the last two nights were minus 1 dregrees and was absolutely freezing! During the day is sunny though, but we dont know how long that will last as there ski season is supposed to be opening real soon. Here you can ski on live volcanos (Mt Ruepheu) Taupo is colder during the winter because its on higher land so ther is a big temperature difference. I'va had a briliant week though, first we went to the craters of the moon, it is a natural area of land which is geothermal all the time and hot water boils below the ground which makes lots of steam! We also did the tongariro crossing, aday hikebetween two volcanos, that was challenging but i suceeded and got to see some cool stuff too. Monday luke did a skydive - 12,000 ft high. He finally plucked up enough courage to book it! and he was soo nervous at firstbut he did it on the most perfect day asthere were clear blue skies, and the views on the dvd look spectacular - he said you could see both oceans either side of nz. And for the first time i was a tinsy bit jealous! Yesterday we went horseback riding, (toning down the extreme sports)butthat was sooo cool as that was something i wanted to do for a while. The horses were lovely mine was called jethro and luke had a beautiful black one called bob, but he was slower thanthe rest of thehorses! We have met Steph this week, shes 18 and from kent and we have been hanging out with her and derik- the canadian. doing the usual - drinking! And now i have a cold - for the first time on my travels and its bloody horrible! Next stop is Rotorua and we will leave tomorrow morning.
