Ciao! Apologies for the gap, yesterday we had no energy to sort out wifi after our very very long journey to Rome! Was a nice bus, I even made a friend!!! She was Aussie (no other choice).. The guide was helpful and all went to plan. The camp site here is even nicer than before, but we are now in a canvas marquee style tent which gets very very hot in the sun. Also we have communal loos, but in Florence we are sharing a room.. so I'm breaking minty in slowly.. The pool is nice and is basically a venue for Aussie gap yearers, they even have a drink named after and especially for them; 'mind the gap'.. We went to bed at 8 yesterday so aren't quite partying with da gang! Today has been the longest most tiring day ever! Why did no one tell us there was a public transport strike???? We actually found this out partly whilst on a very sweaty replacement bus (an Aussie informed us it also went to cornelia so we blindly jumped on) and when we got to our connection in the scary area of cornelia we found that the metro was also closed.. And we were therefore stranded! We waited by some bus stops for about half an hour and eventually some Aussies we had been next to on the original bus came for a chat.. First it was suggested we share a taxi but they were obviously quite exercisey so we ended up walking to Rome with them.. It reminded me of a cheap horror film.. walking behind lost aussie backpackers, expected to fall into a hole or be chased by natives like in the movies. After about an HOUR of wandering we ended up at the Vatican, we walked through the piazza (going back a different day) and walked along to the colosseum which took a very long time also. But, of course we got to see some amazing things today as you'll see in the photos! It was made even better when public transport started again at 5! .. Except when we got off the bus a stop early and had to walk next to a dual carriage way to get back. My legs are covered in black, I look like a bleeding zebra from huddling up to spiky dirty bushes.. Oh still so scared! So no mum, minty is not looking after me! :( although he just asked me not to be mean about him (as this is turning into my only alone time and so my true feelings are coming out!) so to be fair it was my fault we stopped the bus cause I was too eager.... So now we are off to sit by the pool with some iced tea/beer :) we are planning on seeing the vatican, the Spanish steps and the Trevi fountain in 2 days after the strike! :)

G&Dholt Slow Down, Slow Down. Rome was not built in a day. It also has 7 hills (I think) so take them one at a time. So long as you leave 3 coins you can always go back. We once went to Rome for the day, from Bournemouth, with a champers b'fast en route , no problem. We were about 60! So TAKE IT EASY. Please. Enjoy, enjoy. LOL, G and D
