Bonjour!!!
We arrived at 9.30 last night, after 13.5 hrs of numb bums - we were so glad to get here. Especially just in time for Real Madrid - Barcelona kick off.. This hostel is purpose built and is the best one yet, it's basically a hotel for young people - has a nice bar, restaurant and Internet cafe. The only huge difference is that we are in a room of 10 people! Its a big room with a stunning view straight down the Siene. We aren't even in the same bunk bed now, so I'm glad someone else gets to be woken up to Ricky Gervais podcasts at various points in the night... And he's also pleased as he doesn't have to be woken up to me saying 'turn that beeping iPod off' at various points in the night. Win-win.
We have had a lovely day taking in lots of the sights of Paris. We started off getting the tube to Notre Dame, it is so beautiful! We went inside whilst there was a service on - it was filled with people singing which added to the experience. The stained glass is all so colourful and huge, we hardly look down! We then walked across to the other island, which name escapes me at the moment, and had some lunch, we went to a bakery which was amazing! I had a ham and cheese straw and a tarte citron, and Minty had a chicken sandwich, I was so full after eating roughly an entire pot on lemon curd (I regret nothing) so we decided to not get a metro and to walk all the way down to the Eiffel Tower. This entailed walking past the Louvre and the Grand and a visit to the flower Market, so was an exciting walk! Especially as we were lucky enough to have brilliant sunshine today.
We got to the Eiffel Tower and jumped over a fence to sit in a little grassy patch to sit in and look at (about 100 others did too so we aren't that 'bad-ass'). I had a nap in the sun until I woke myself up by snoring - embarrassing, whilst Minty played on the iPhone. We decided it was too hot to queue today but plan to go up it at nighttime on Wednesday. After my foot hit a ball which in turn hit a child in the head, we decided it was time to leave and headed back for the hostel. Our metro station did not bring us out where we expected, we even went back inside and tried the other exit - but still nothing. So after walking around for 45 minutes we found our hostel (should have been a 5 minute walk) - and I won't point fingers but I blame Minty entirely as he promised it was right, when it was left and about 2 metres.. He knew he was in the dog house! Like I said, won't point fingers.........
We came downstairs for some dinner after meeting some new Scot roomies (right when we thought I'd couldn't get worse than Aussies...) and watched Swansea v Man City before heading to bed. :)

Mr and Mrs G Holt Good. So you made it, but what a journey! No thank you. St Ives is far enough these days. All your walking too. If you meet any Kiwis tell them its been SNOWING in Auckland and Wellington. Unheard of. Here a pleasant day but sadly a typical UK unsettled day on Thursday will greet you. I am down to Spec. Const. again as I was noted sipping a half of shandy on Sun. pm when I was on duty. The story of my life. Slow down a little and pay more attention to map reading to save your poids (French). Not too far from home now. We're all waiting to hear the saga. Be Happy, LOL, G and D .
le Simo Am I the only one to have noticed that Minty seems to have a lot of chicken sandwiches?
