Minty decided to leave San Seb with a bang...
Last night we went out with our Aussie roomies who are moving to london next week (mum make up the bed, thanks). They are 24 and 27 , I got on well with the Beth who is a hairdresser and Minty found a new man love to replace Tolsa, in Ben - a carpenter. Nice as they were, they were a horrific influence on us with their native love of excessive beer drinking - lucky for me I do not drink beer so did not get caught up in their scheme, but Minty fell- and he fell hard. Lucky for us it was the first night of a festival in San Seb, so all the locals were drinking heavily too. I think the mix of French and Spanish in them has sent them loco because they really are an odd bunch - and seem to not understand the concept of a language barrier and just keep talking.. On and on and on...
We got to see some pretty fireworks and enjoy the streets filled with people from 1 to 101 in the streets at about 2am. Its very odd to see children playing so late.
After spending almost all our days budget on 13 beers, (though to be fair one was dropped and smashed and brutally (debatable) cut my finger when I was getting a shard out of the grips of my toe whilst Minty was trying to clean it up with his flip flop....) a rant about slow Spanish Mcdonalds, a rant about a juggler, and a rant about the poor tramp dogs, Minty managed to finally tire out the Aussies just through the power of speech. We all went back to the room where Minty proceeded to fall out his bed, pull off a screwed in painting which landed on his face (he wanted to bring it back to England cause it looked like Monty) and knock over the lamp and beer bottles.. Then he passed out. So much so that he didn't even stir as I took his blaring iPod out his hand and ears and rolled him over to stop the snoring. It was a night I would have appreciated having a private room - the poor Aussies will probably cancel their eurostar through fear. (a job well done I hear you say?)
4 hours later we got up for the bus, it was raining which of course is the only reason that Minty fell over on the way there........ Having a huge backpack on his back made it even more comical. He has a badly bruised foot now :(
It has been a long long journey and it has been horrid weather the whole time. You'll be glad to know that we did not have to meet the beer again.
Sorry for the very detailed night out for you guys but 13 hours on the bus doesn't usually entail much excitement, and anyway, I don't know if you can tell but I don't want Minty to forget his truly awful state.
At a service station now and I am overwhelmed with happiness as the French put butter in their sandwiches, heaven. And yeah simon didn't you know I was in Cali? This app is not great.
Nicky and Paul we were only going to do that if you guys came really, have stuck with original bookings instead, as there's much more to do in Paris and I'm the only one who enjoys sunbathing!
Tell Lucie she's got a job on her hands with our ruined feet xx

Spec. Const. & Mrs GJ Holt Just looked up Paris weather.Ideal for sight seeing on non licenced primises (Minty). Look what happens to Rtd Naval Officers....... Not a pretty sight they tell me. Liked the firework picture but not too keen on that journey.BTW Guided bus to Camb. is up and running. All mod cons,Wifi/leather seats and free for OAP's. Not an Aussie in sight. They have to thumb lifts as they ask for the way to Bedford...... (SNJ get the bunks ready and the beer in). I should not jest like that. It might just happen.... Hope the day is going well. Lots to see.My first visit to the Moulin Rouge was in '48 when I made a "gin fizz"(the cheapest drink) last about 4 hours.... Ah well, it was a hard life then. No sympathy reqd though. Good fun as I hope you are enjoying. Au revoir and LOL, G and D
