Arrived in Vang Vieng in the afternoon and dropped off our stuff at a guesthouse which was one pound fifty per night for a tiwn room and ensuite, pretty bargainous! Then headed down one of the only streets to enjoy a mini "Friends" marathon which pretty much every bar plays throughout the day. Then we watched another lovely sunset from the view over the river and saw people finishing their tubing trips. The next day we did a tubing trip of our very own with a group of about 10 of us, some english, some canadian. Tubing is wher eyou sit in the inner tube of a tractor tyre and float as the river takes you over a distance of 10km. Videos to follow. At various points on the riverbank there are bars which have trapezes and rope swings from where you can launch yourselves into the water. We got quite into these with another group of English travellers and ended up splitting from our guides at the end of the day and enjoyed an hour's 'moonlight tubing' back to Vang Vieng! couldn't believe our eyes when we recognised Arhtur's brother on the riverbank so spoke to him for a bit, Reigatians do Laos it would seem. then out for a fun-filled night of buckets with our tubing pals and watching the amazing stars in the Southern Hemisphere...from the pavement!
Then onto Luang Prabang through the gorgeous emerald coloured mountain forests so we're sure you will hear from us soon.
All our love Lucy and Alex xxx
P.S. you jealous yet?!
