So this was it! I was going to leave Brisbane!! Had properly settled in at Steph's so felt strange to be leaving, the first week went quite slowely but the second week has flown by so leaving had crept up on me! Set my alarm for 7.30 so I could Skype Mike, didn't want to leave my bed as I knew it would be back to hostel beds now, nooo! Was feeling really nervous about travelling again, the two week gap had broken the routine and I had butterfly's and everything! Spoke to Mike for a while which was lovely but made me feel even more nervous, so I said bye bye then snuggled down for a bit longer before getting up. Went to hang my washing out on the line (it had been on a drying rack) but it was rainy, being used to tumble driers I had totally misjudged how long my stuff would take to dry! It wasn't too bad just a bit damp so i put it in a carrier bag in my big bag and then packed all the rest! Was a cold enough day to wear my jeans so that freed some space in my bag, I left a few things behind too but it was still tight! Had some breakfast and got ready then at half 10 we left. Steph dropped me off, was sad to say goodbye but hopefully we will keep in touch! Walked in the rain to the bus stop and had just sat down when I saw Sarah, the girl I had met on my last night in Sydney and saw again in Byron Bay! So that was really nice having someone going on the bus that I knew! She was heading onto Noosa but she will still be there when I get there. Bus turned up and it was a big one, so nice though!! The driver called out for where people to put there bags if they were going to Noosa, and where people should put there bags if they were going to Rainbow Beach... nothing about Mooloolaba! So I waited till the end and he said I must be Lucy - I was the only person getting off there! Mooloolaba and Noosa are pretty simelar and most people only do Noosa. Glad I came here though! Anyway, I get on the bus and go and sit down next to Sarah and then some guy behind says my name, I look behind and must have stared for ages before reacting as my brain was ticking away. At first I thought it was Sam Rushmer, a guy I used to go to school with, then I thought it couldn't be as I was in Oz so thought it must be Cai, then realized it wasn't and it actually was Sam! He with with two others guys I used to go to school with, was so so weird bumping into them half way around the world. What are the chances hey. But yeah, chatted to Sarah on the bus was good catching up and hearing what she had been doing! We stopped off for lunch and me and Sarah went to a little cafe, then we carried on up and stopped at the glass mountains, a load of random huge mountains. The driver told us some stories about why aborigionals think they were there, there's loads of random storied from the aborigionals, just like the maoris in NZ. We then headed on to Mooloolaba where I said bye to Sarah and got off, all alone! Was pretty nervous about going into the hostel on my own but the women at reception was so nice. Seems like a really nice, friendly hostel. Free pool, free surfboard, kayak etc rental, free internet, free breakfast, and a pool! Chatted to the women for a bit and she said she could bookmy Zoo bus for me which was nice then she took me to my room and changed my sheets because someone had thrown some stuffon my bed - she really didnt have to as it was only a few clothes but she insisted. She said the hostel was busy atm because a lot of people from here go fruit picking every day and today was their first day off in two weeks so there were a lot of people around the pool (not in the pool as the weather was crap!). They all seemed to know eachother so I thought during the day I would go and explore as I wanted to see the area as I would be at the zoo all day tommorow. She then left and I unpakced a few things then a girl came out the shower room. The reception lady had said she was a long termer and was nice, so I tried chatting to her but she was a bit funny. I chatted away though and she seemed a bit friendlier after a while, but when I asked her if there was anywhere I should go she seemed really unenthusiastic, she said herself she has been here too long! But I headed outanyway and made my way to the beach, I thought it was sooo nice! The area seems really really nice, very laid back, the beach is gorgeous and along the beach are loads of little shops and cafes, can imagine it would be perfect on a sunny day! But, it wasn't which was a shame but I looked around all the little shops which was nice, then got myself a magazine and went into Starbucks, sat looking out towards the sea with my magazine and a, wait for it, VANILLA milkshake! Was really nice, was probably in there about an hour and a half. Had to wait for the rain to stop before I walked back, it was absolutely pouring but the showers never seem to last too long here so I was right to wait. It was pretty chilly by half 5 so I headed back to the hostel and sorted out my hair then came into the common area and sat watching tv for a bit, then when the computer was free I thought I better come and do my blog as I don't want to get behind on it again! Planning to just chill out around here and see what happens but if I end up having an early night I don't mind :-) Will update you all later!
Finished on the computer and sat back down on the sofas - they were showing Foo Fighters live in Sydney so was watching that with a few other people ... had been trying to figure out who else was here on there own, but I actually think everyone here knows eachother! Hardly anyone comes here from Oz Ex and I reckon these are all fruit pickers! Read my magazine while listening to the tv for a couple of hours, went quickly so was surprised it was half 8. Nothing much was going on and I was feeling hungry so I thought I would walk down to the beach, fancied seeing it by night. But as I was about to go it absolutely chucked it down and I thought it wouldn't be worth it. There were 2 Japense girls in my room, tried to chat to them for a bit but they didn't speak too much English so was pretty tricky! Thought I might as well get an early night so got showered and read for a bit in bed. They started to play music outside and it sounded a bit more lively so wondered if I should have stayed up but it was someones birthday and like I say, think they all know eachother so might have been hard. I was already in bed anyway. Kate came back and we were all going to bed so turned the lights off around 10 which is when the music turned down anyway, and that was the start of my worst night away so far. 2 slats were missing under my matress to start with, with just one inbetween, right in the middle. So, so, so uncomfortable, felt so bruised the next morning. Mattress was so crap so basically felt like it wasn't there. I had to balance my hip on the one slat... not comfortable at all! But managed to fall asleep, only to be woken again at 11 as down the hall is the kitchen and someone was washing up all the pots and pans. You can hear EVERYTHING here so that was so so loud. After that I just culd not get comfortable. I drifted in and out of sleep again but with sound travelling so much I kept getting woken up. Then, one of the Japenese girls starting scratching madly. My god, it was the most disgusting noise I have ever heard. She must have had headlice or something, but I have never heard such a loud, horrible sound and I actually felt sick. Actually thought about leaving the room, this noise just did something to me! I had my phone under my pillow... I'd been laying there for 2 hours just wide awake, trying to ignore it. I was so uncomfotable and so tired but couldn't get any proper sleep. The only decent bit of sleep I got was between 6.30 and 8.30 in the morning but when I woke up I felt crap! My alarm hadn't gone off though so thank god the sun coming through had woken me up, as I had a bus to catch!
