Was so nice to wake up naturally to an empty room. Put my music on, played on my phone, did my eyebrows (way overdue), straightened my hair.... stuff like that. At about half 10 I went down to reception, chatted to Julia for a bit and got 30 mins free internet for posting on the Nomads FB wall. My plan for the day (beach, milkshake, lucnh and magazine in one of the cute cafes, back to the beach) was turned upsidedown because it was pouring with rain! Was totally gutted as I really like Hervery Bay, has a really laid back vibe so would have been a lovely day. So, decided it was a good time to get online, and I spent ages catching up with the blogs! Still so glad I am doing them though. Hate not having free internet mind you, so it's costing me a fair bit and today especially cost me a lot but it's better than doing it on a sunny day! Some photos had been posted from Fraser which was awesome, hope more people put some up soon! Tried to plan my next few weeks of my trip too, and there's a travel desk at the hostel so went a spoke to one of the girls who helped me sort out magnetic island. She threw in loads of free vouchers for Cairnes, Agnes Waters and Airlie Beach so thats cool. Tried to ring Whitsuday's to book my boat but they wanted me to call Frasers on Rainbows who weren't picking up so decided I would try again later. Headed down to the camera shop (it had been closed yesterday so that's another reason I wanted to extra day before Fraser, so I could get a camera) and picked up a fairly simple digital camera for $120, about 80 quid. Sucks to have to pay for a new camera but would suck even more not to have one for the rest of my trip. :-( Hoping my luck changes soon! Looked for a cafe so I could sit with my magazine but they were all shut - must not be worth opening them in the pouring rain! Went for a walk back along the beach which was deserted. Got back to the room and there were 2 girls there from Essex, Rachael and Hollie. They were doing Fraser the next day and also seemed really nice so that was cool, but when I went down with them to reception and waited to use the phone again I had a brain wave. It was a big decision to make and one I better not regret, but, dun dun dun, I decided to cancel my Fraser Island trip. The dutch guy and the girl I had booked Magnetic Island with were both there and we talked through it, weighing out the pros and cons and stuff so I would definately make the right decision. The girl didn't realize I had gone before at first and when she found out she said I definately should cancel, because the weather was crap so I would get nothing more out of it than I had the time before. Its definately a place to see in the sun. I'm sure it would have been good fun, because it's about who your with and the group seemed rally cool when I saw them later, but I absolutely loved Fraser and think going back would definately not be the same because I wouldn't have to "wow" factor of before. Also, the price was adding up. I had the $90 fee, $15 sleeping bag cost, $15 food... it wasn't exactly free. I don't want to say that I didn't do it to make up from the money I have lost this week, because I don't think the bad luck I have had should stop me doing anything (you can make money back but i'm only here once!) so it wasn't really the money thing but that was nice to get that back anyway. So, done, cancelled. The weather is still awful today so I am not feeling bad in that sense. If the sun had come up I might have felt gutted! Anyway, once that was done I went to the ktichen and made myself some pasta, was probably enough for 4 people but I did my best! Was yummy. I then popped to the shop to get Pepsi and Starbursts (healthy!) then went online with my last bit of credit and got to speak to mum on Skype which was lovely :-) Went through my plans and am feeling happy with them now. Went back to the room and spoke to Marco who had done a day trip to Fraser Island and really didn't enjoy it. He said the rain ruined it which was such a shame. Packed my stuff and spoke to the girls who had come back from the meeting, said their group seemed nice which was good. They were really worried about the rain though. Said they were gutted I wasn't going and I said they weren't allowed to say that!! Helped them decide what to pack and chatted to them for a while then, read in bed for a bit and went to sleep at 11. Was woken up at 12 by the fire alarm though, SOOO loud!!! We all ran out, got absolutely soaked, waited outside a bit then it stopped. No one had come around so we just went back to bed and once again I slept like a baby :-)
