After my 35 min sleep I got up, packed and ready to leave Rainbow Beach. Was rubbish having to say goodbye to my group again, a few would be on the bus with me but not getting off at Hervey Bay, so back to being on my own! The bus left at 7.30 and we got to Hervey Bay 2 hours later. Got the shuttle bus to the hostel, which was by a row of shops and cafes and just across from the beach :-) Check in wasn't until 11.30 so I chucked my stuff in the luggage room and went on the computer while I waited. Got checked in, and was told I had to pay for my nights here which was a bummer as I was told that was included in my prize ticket. Also, the local fee had gone up from $70 to $90 since my ticket had been printed - travelling is full of hidden costs! Went to my room, passed a swimming pool, bar, kitchen and tv - it's a nice hostel in terms of layout and whats there etc, but it's the dirtiest I have been to by far! When I got to my room, a 6 bed dorm (had only paid for a 12 bed so that was cool), I unpacked then 2 girls came in from Denmark, Laura and Anna, who were really nice so chatted to them for a bit. They were doing Fraser Island the next day (Monday) like I was supposed to. We all needed to go to the cash point so I went with them, then they went to the beach while I went shopping! Just had a look in the little shops along the road, didn't buy anything but found some nice cafe's and thought a milkshake and magazine might be on the cards for later on! When I got back I decided to have a nap, felt like such an old lady but I needed it and felt loads better afterwards. Woke up at half 4 and got changed and the girls came back, and their friend Elin (who they'd met on the way and was doing the Greyhound) turned up who was also lovely. She had tried to book to get on the Fraser trip for the Monday but it was full so she was meant to be on Tuesday with me. Would have been really ncie to go with the girls, but I suggested we swapped so she could go with Laura and Anna and I had wanted to go on Tuesday (the guys from my school were going on the Monday and I would rather have been on a differant trip to them as I like not knowing anyone!) so we would both be happy. They seemed up for that and said we should ask at the meeting later. At half 5, there was free sambuca on the beach so we headed down. There were about 30 people from the hostel there, including Andy from Noosa and two other guys I had met and planned to meet up with anyway (till I lost my phone) so that was really cool. After the free drinks we headed back to the bar for our free dinner, spaghetti bolognaise. It wasn't amazing but the potions were huge so it filled me up! At half 6 we went over to the meeting and were told to ask at reception about if we could switch. The girl working at recpetion, Julia, said we could with no problem so that was nice and simple and I was happy with the decision :-D So Elin went back to join in the meeting and I ended up staying at chatting to Julia for ages. She was 18 and from Hervey Bay, but had done a bit of travelling, including England, and was travelling again in a month or so. Was really nice chatting to her, she even gave me a phone when I told her about my bad luck! It was only a s***ty old one, locked with no sim card but its got some music on it (woo!) and had the time and an alarm so thats so good. Its a european charger but I'm sure I can borrow a plug adaptor from someone. There was a dutch intern working at the hostel too, I can't spell his name haha, but he came and was chatting to us then asked if I wanted a drink so I went with him and sat outside his room with him, the other dutch intern and another girl that worked there. They were lovely, but turns out Burban and coke is disgusting! They were all about to go ont he internet, so I went to my room to get a normal drink. The girls had just got back from the meeting and were going to the bottle-o and I said I would go, for the walk. They said their group seemed a bit annoying and they'd all been really stressing out over the food - with Nomads you pick the food you want as a group, which sounds like a good idea but just makes me think of all the arguments they had on Big Brother when trying to sort out the shopping list! So they were a bit annoyed about that but I could tell them what a good time they would have anyway. When I got back, the dutch guy was just getting off the computer so I got on (they were super busy) and did some more blogs (had a lot to catch up on again!) then managed to catch mum and dad on Skype, but only had 10 mins as the internet room was closing. Went back to the room and played Yatzi, some dice game the girls loved, with Laura, Anna and Marco (the sweet Italian guy in our room who kept trying to tell us recepies and ask if we wanted any pasta haha). Once me and Anna won Yatzi the girls had to pack and I laid on my bed to write up my plans, don't remember falling asleep but I ahd done about one word! Marco had woken me up and I went to get ready for bed then snuggled down and got some proper sleep. Slept so, so well :-)
