First priority this morning was to get some change for the washing machine. Went and got coffee/hot chocolate at the café down the laneway from our accommodation & was able to get some coins. Enjoyed our drinks, went back to the hotel to put our washing on, and then went to the Exhibition Centre for the LUME art display for Naidoc week.
The display was very impressive and well done. Certainly, the best way to enjoy art - i.e. in a large area with fully animated and immersive art displays curated to music. The floor and walls were all utilised to display the artwork, with there being flowing movement from beaches on the floor to art and photography all around. Had a café as part of the space - so we had some chips to share while still within the space. There was also a circular room with art you could partially interact with (i.e. wave hands, and it would move in the direction of your hand movements). Overall it was very well done and showed works from around Australia, showing visually where each piece came from.
After spending about 1.5 hours at the LUME display, we walked back along the Yarra to our accommodation to put our washing in the dryer - chat with Mummy & Makayla.
Then it was onto the train to a magic/juggling show - a father/son performance aimed at kids (8 - 12). While the magic and juggling were not exactly anything spectacular, the overall performance was good and engaging for kids, and Ethan enjoyed it. Better still, when we went in, we happened to be at the front and were sat in front-row seats - Ethan noted this was good as it increased his chances of possibly getting chosen to be a volunteer (we didn't know at that stage if there would be volunteers). As it happened, Ethan was correct & was chosen to be one of the first volunteers! He got to be part of a trick where he got locked to another girl from the audience.
After the show, we made our way to the Butchers Diner to use a meal gift card and get some lunch, then decided we would go out of the city to play mini-golf. Missed the next train, so went to catch a tram, then saw a water fountain display, so we went and looked at that, so we ended up missing the tram, so we took another train… Caught the train to Brunswick and went to a mini-golf place called What The Puck… But we had a great time - And we came a draw on the first round of 9 holes. Had some pizza for dinner - then decided to do the 2nd round of 9 holes, again, we had a lot of fun with the second set of holes.
Then it was a tram ride back to our accommodation to pack in preparation to leave tomorrow for Philip Island.
