- Another water park day!
- Up at 7:15am, got ready then walked to the local fruit market & got fruit in preparation for Breakfast tomorrow (so we can leave early). Then grabbed some "breakfast" (Hamburger for Ethan & steak sandwich for me), then used Bolt to get a lift to Columbia Aquaverse.
- We had to drive past and then U-turn back. As soon as Ethan saw it his mouth was agape! It looks very impressive.
- We arrived right on opening time, but there was hardly anyone there. Only 2 people entered the park ahead of us!
- We were blown away and bemused at how this place was operating. It's very impressive with slides & staff everywhere, but almost no visitors, so we just hit the slides. Going up the first tower was a bit disconcerting as no one was around, and then walk in, a siren went off & light flashed. But we figured this was most likely just because it was Ghost Busters theme (we were correct, but it was quite disconcerting at first).
- The slides were great, and the wave pool was amazing (I didn't get any pictures; we were too busy playing), but there were good waves & huge water cannons in the pool.
- The theming and detail are impressive, with many of the characters/decorations animated (often just subtle).
- The park did get a lot busier throughout the day, but we only had to wait more than 5 minutes, probably twice. We just moved around to miss cues, had lunch, and watched a show at the same time (3 p.m.) when sliders were busiest.
- There was a good mix of slides and very unique slides (in Particular a Ghost Trap, that went for ages, including going into 3 large cylinders (red on the outside) and up-hill a few times with water jets pushing up.
- There were some seeming design faults on the racers, which require wearing a helmet! The reason becomes apparent when going down and uphill in an open slide only to transfer into a closed tube while partially airborne! On our last time on them (we had been on these about 8 times prior) we both based our heads into the slide (the risk is amplified with different racers twisting in opposite directions & if try to twist but wrong way smack head into the slide wall). Also on the first run Ethan got stuck. This makes it sound bad! But it was a lot of fun (and never a cue…).
- There is a huge cylindrical slide, which looked incredible, the slide itself was good, obviously don't go up the entire cylinder, but do go up reasonably & get a lot of water dumped in you.
- We also had a go at bumper card (needed to pay a bit extra). This was fun, and we had the space to ourselves. It had a number of spinning light bars that created hologram images around the arena.
- They also had foam machines that came on in the pools at times around the Wave pool and "kids" slides.
- Unlike many of the tipping bucket slide areas, the slides in this area were actually really good for a lot of ages, from the usual small ones, to a lot of taller ones (fast - when took rashy top off, and reasonably long).
- As always, stayed from opening to closing, getting a lot of rides in at the end of the day when the cues were completely gone again. We able to "use" our (my) weight to help others out again (letting those who don't have enough weight between them to join with us).
- We got a ride back to accommodation (I used the Grab app this time and had a few issues, but it got sorted). The language barrier here is noticeable, unlike in Bali.
- Got settled, then went out for dinner a bit undecided on where to go. I was keen on markets again, Ethan not so much. As it happened, we ended up not going far, just to the corner of the bock where (part of our hotel) there is an Italian restaurant. Turns out quite fancy! But compared to a Perth restaurant of the same quality exceedingly good value. So I had Gnocchi, and Ethan had Lasagna; both were amazing & fresh Gelato for dessert, which was also really good (I got Lemon). The light on our table had "issues", so this caused much amusement (would turn on/off when table bumped, or dim/change colour).
- I arranged travel for tomorrow morning (which caused a bit of confusion for the hotel concierge & an online place I ended up using, but I got it sorted). Leaving at 7:45am for Bangkok (Dream World).
- Played a game of Range, then Ethan off to Bed, ready to get up for 7am.
