Pasotti Family
- Up at 7an and packed ready to head out.
- Were not in a rush, so decided to take the train to the airport. Was a bit of a mission, but made it (changing between 4 trains).
- We were in Terminal 1 (same as when we arrived) which is next to Jewel which was convenient as Ethan wanted to go through the sky park & net.
- Checked baggage (which was frustratingly very slow given we had to do it ourselves but then still cue & re-do checks with a person… the budget airlines so far have been better at this).
- Went the Jewel, got tickets (usual hassles with trying to use the automated ticketing, this time got to the end but it had run out of paper so couldn't print - had to re-do on another machine).
- The park is impressive, and as it happened we were there for the waterfall starting (11am) - See videos for video of it starting. Also got to see below it which we had been curious about. Walking on the rope nets gave a view through all 5 floors below, which was quite something.
- Did the rope course and walked around the park & Rach rang while there so gave a tour.
- Checked into/boarded flight (interestingly security was at each gate rather than central) we had a brief moment when we realised we were almost at the gate but had not gone through security wondering if we had mucked something up (might have been more focused on seeing how fast we could walk aided by travelators).
- The flight went well, was nice to have full service with screens and better food (although effectively only had one choice as the alternate was "Asian spicy"). The "salad" was interesting (mainly chicken sausage…). A bit of turbulence (slightly worse than into Singapore) but not too bad. We just used the screens to see where we were/look at the live feed camera.
- Landed just before scheduled. Made our way through immigration. Getting collected was chaotic (I had pre arranged) while it was fine, we had to find our sign among the masses, then wait 15 min, to then be "guided" at pace out into the pickup area (where we lost our guide for a while among the masses). The pickup area is absolute chaos with whistles and sirens being used by the traffic/police while cars haphazardly collect people. Fortunately our driver did find us!
- Annoyingly the SIM in Ethans phone I got especially as it would also work in Thailand is not working.
- The temperature & humidity are basically identical to Singapore.
- Drive away from Bangkok down to Pattaya. The traffic is actually fine. We seem to be going faster than everyone else but (writing this while in the car). We're going 110 pretty consistently, and there are digital signs stating 90 and permanent signs showing 120… so I'm not sure what it is… it certainly feels like we're going very fast! As I type this some car pouring out black smoke just flew past us & we have now increased to 120kmph! In checking Google maps we're on track time wise so we are seemingly going the speed limit.
- The roads are ok, although quite undulating considering the speed.
- In Pattaya, the traffic is more akin to Bali. We got an extended tour as our driver, who does not speak English, drove us to the wrong place (twice, although the second time he was close, he needed to backtrack as he tried to take a shortcut which led to a one-way road in the wrong direction). Was quite something to see the number of cannabis shops in some areas (an issue I understand is recent due to legislation change, which they're now trying to address).
- I checked into the accommodation and then looked at the facilities. After finding the pools and slides, we got changed and went back. Ethan Went in the pools and slides, and I watched on, had beer, and chatted with the Mummy/Makayla.
- Got changed, walked down to the beach, then along the ocean-side shops/restaurants. Ended up settling on Playa (very close to the hotel). I got pad Thai & Ethan got Hawaiian Pizza. Food was good.
- After dinner, we came back to the room. Ethan was very keen to play rage! So had a game.
- Planning to go to Ramayana Water Park tomorrow.
