Pasotti Family
- We got up at 7:45 a.m., packed, and ate breakfast. I tried a lot of new options today and found the Ratatouille great.
- Then we played a round of mini golf (on level 18). One the first hole, Ethan hit it way too hard, but it hit the flag & went straight in for a hole-in-one!
- Went to the top of tower one last time to look around, then on our way. Walked to the train station for the Airport express line. This was quite a mission, walking through the alleyway, through a sketchy closed, but seemingly open to pedestrian gate, uneven roads and markets. Quite a contrast from being in the hotel to the immediately adjacent areas being very run-down, with food stalls and beer storage hard up against the train lines. While it wasn't far, it was a mission. Getting up to the station even more so (with no signage past the ground, so very much hoping all the effort wasn't in vein)! We needed to take luggage upstairs and escalators. Eventually got to the ticket office where finally have access to a lift (ironically signs stating not to use escalators for safety with luggage despite having to use stairs & escalator to get to that point…).
- Back to the chaos of the airport, check in went smoothly given the online didn't work! (well claimed to work but never sent passes, the Thai Airways operator who helped us use the terminals at the airport pre-predicted this issue so must be common).
- Same as Singapore whereby security at the gate. A hassle we found with this is having to empty water prior, but then there are no option to get water (might have been 1 vending machine up-stairs) . So need to wait for boarding, board, take off before get water…
- The flight was fine, only just over 1 hr.
- Once we arrived, we waited for our luggage. Ethan's came, but concerningly the luggage belt just stopped when my bag still hadn't come. It turned out that once the last bag was out (just out), they stopped the conveyor belt & everyone who was still waiting had to walk to the start of the belt, where there were heaps of bags that had not gone around yet (mine included).
- Got picked up from the airport and taken to the hotel (I had pre-booked this). All went smoothly with around 35 min drive.
- Did a quick walk-around of the hotel and beach, then into the pool. The water is perfect and feels warm/very pleasant. There are little hand-paddle boats in the pool & large beanbags. We made the most of these (Ethan is right on the max weight for the boats). Had a drink at the swim-up bar.
- We had planned to go to an on-site beach-side restaurant, and while prices were high, they offered 50% off to guests (making it reasonable). However, on closer inspection, this required posting a public review on social media! I wasn't prepared to be bribed 50% to give a review, so I walked down the beach. I am glad we did; the next place - some locals running a bar on the beach was amazing and had very reasonable prices. We got to watch the most amazing sunset on the beach and essentially have a tapas-style dinner. The setting was spectacular and very pleasant with perfect weather.
- Back to the room, chatted with the girls, then a game of rage.
