After taking on some extremely windy roads on the way to Queenstown I checked into my king suite at Nomads. Wow! What a hostel! This is definitely a high end flashpacker hostel. The facilities rival some hotels I've stayed in with a well equipped kitchen, chill lounge area with leather sofas and a fireplace as well as balconies with views of the whole of Queenstown from most rooms. Another huge bonus is everyone gets a free breakfast and dinner.
Next stop was one of the two ice bars Queenstown has to offer, Minus 5. We were kitted out with big thermal coats and gloves before being lead into what appeared to be a massive chiller filled with ice statues. Leigh our bartender poured some much us needed cocktails that we drank from glasses made of ice.

Saturday evening and Queenstown was starting to come alive so the only thing to do was join in the biggest pub crawl the town has to offer. Ben from Big Night Out invited me along to the pub crawl that has been awarded a Golden Backpacker award. The night started in Altitude bar on Shotover Street and took in 5 more bars. The bar crawl was really well organised with everyone given a discount book for all the bars we were visiting plus more popular bars in Queenstown. Ben and Kevin were great group leaders, making sure everyone got to the next bar and didn't leave anyone behind. Most people stopping in Queenstown will do this bar crawl as it runs most nights of the week and all the hostels in the area promote it as well as the hop on hop off buses that pass through. Sadly I only made it to bar five of six as 3.5 hours of mountain biking in Wanaka had wiped me out (at least that's the story im sticking to!).
