Finally, the day Matthew has been dreaming of arrived! We went to his spiritual home, LegoLand.
After having been to several other theme parks within the last two weeks LegoLand was compact in comparison, which made it easy to explore in a day.
As you might expect, the target audience is younger families, so there were with no truly scary roller coasters; there were only one or two rides that Joe was excluded from by height.
There are amazing Lego constructions throughout the Park, including a construction of New York and Washington DC, amongst others.
One highlight, for the kids anyway, was the Driving School, where the kids "drive" cars which resemble Lego cars and at the end they get a Drivers License (you pay extra for a personalized photo license). Joe was so proud of his license, it was extremely cute.
Another highlight for Joe was the Lego Factory where they show you how Lego is made. This is truly underwhelming, but for some reason we couldn't keep Joe out of it - it is a one room static display. I think he thought the display was a real machine and it would start working if he jabbed the button hard enough.
The park is open from 10:00 - 5:00pm, and by 4:00 we'd had enough and called it a day. After a quick visit to the gift shop on the way to the exit (to gawk at allll the Legggooooo) Joe fell asleep in the car on the way home.
Another full, happy day for the Rice Family.
