Ah, after the disaster that was Malaysia, Thailand has been amazing. This was not before we got here though, as for some reason we decided it would be best to get a minibus from Penang to Phuket. After 15 hours, 4 changes, 3 hours sitting around, Brett going to the toilet and seeing one man from our van washing his nether regions in a wash basin, and several games of family fortunes, we finally arrived in Phuket.
Normally I wouldn't like somewhere as touristy as this place, but it was a welcome break for a while. We stayed at a really nice hostel where the owner loves us, which is always nice! Anyway, in Phuket we...
- did a tour of the island and went elephant trekking, saw a monkey show, saw a snake show, went kayaking, visited a pineapple plantation (I found out they don't grow on trees!) and lots more
- Saw a ladyboy caberet show, which was very good! Their costumes were amazing and, there was even a Tina Turner impersonator (Beth and Caroline, at least three of us were present to represent TSTB!)
- Lazed around on the beack quite a lot.
After a few days here, we decided it was best to move on to our next stop, Ko Phi Phi. This place is amazing- white sand, crystal waters, palm trees- I don't want to leave! This is where they filmed the film 'The Beach' a while back, and it's even nicer than in the film. We're staying in 3 little beach huts which are about 10 seconds away from the beach and they're very cute - we even have a fridge! Anyway, so far we have...
- been on a banana boat and fallen off 4 times!
- I have been paragliding around a bay off of the island
- been snorkelling
