G'day chooks!
Well now, we've done quite a lot of activities since I last wrote, but I'll try to keep it brief so I don't bore you all!
On Thursday we went around the city on a City Circle tram which was quite good, especially seeing as it's free; you'd never get that in the UK...? We also went to the immigration museum and my favourite thing of the day, up the Rialto Towers which give you views of the city.? We went up there at sunset so it was pretty impressive, although I nearly dropped my camera over the side which would not have been a good idea seeing as I probably would have been convicted for manslaughter...? Anyway, we ate at this amazing vietnamese place in the evening for about $5, which is just under 2.50 in pounds - I'm already noticing that things can be a lot cheaper out here.
?The next day we didn't really do much; we walked around the city for most of the day and watched quite a few free comedy shows in federation square.? One was this english guy who kept on running around in a skimpy purple leotard who I'm afraid to say, put our nation to shame!? He was so crap (and looked bad in a leotard!).? In the evening we met up with my friend Sean who I know from university.? It was really nice to see him again but especially fun as we went to the Casino!!!!? You will all be pleased to know that I DOUBLED my money on Roulette.? HAHAHA, there were all these heavy gamblers there who obviously knew what they were doing.? The first time I put my chip on the table I was told to take it off by the woman running the table as I'd put it in the wrong place; people were laughing at me but then I got my own back by taking their money so I felt justice had been done!?
Yesterday was probably the best day that we've had in Melbourne and one of the hottest (about?30 degrees).? We had a pretty early start after 4 hours sleep but, oh my god it was worth it because we went to Erinsborough!!!!? Now, I'm sure you all thought that I was obssessed but trust me, some of the people on the bus were such freaks!?? The tour guide looked like he was going to cry when we were 'discussing' the death of stingray and kept refering to helen daniels as his 'mother in law'.? It was quite surreal driving around melbourne?to the soundtrack of stefan dennis (Can I Make You Feeeeeeeeeel good?) and Kylie and Jason.? We started off at Erinsborough High, then went on to Ramsey Street (which was much smaller in real life) and then met Janelle Timmins.? Sean, Liane and Brett were laughing at me because I got a bit star struck and when we were offered a picture I got a bit keen and hugged her; I'm so cool!? Oh, and she signed my name as Eloise but nevermind, I got to meet Janelle!?
We then looked around St Kilda which is probably my favourite part of Melbourne, it's quite oldy worldy in a kitsch kind of way and it has the yummiest cake shops!? Finally, we went to an American Football match which was also pretty good.? I am now a supporter of the Bulldogs (call me fickle but they won against Melbourne yesterday).?
So, all in all Melbourne has been pretty good!? We're going to pick up the camper van in about 3 hours which is going to be interesting...
