My section of repeat journey (Christchurch to Kiakoura then Picton) went by jus as quickly as last time. I met Jen on the bus (completely unplanned) which was weird as it was at the same place I met her for he first time. We actually got to see the seal colony in Kiakoura this time as our driver dropped us off there just before we arrived. I took Rufis for another walk with Steve along the beach and he managed to eat everything he found including a baby sharks head! Eurgh! After skimming some stones and playing connect 4 we finished the day with some fish 'n' chips! Yummy!
Leaving a bit earlier in the morning we saw some extremely cheeky baby seals at the bottom of a waterfall. They were not timid at all showing off for us and even coming right up to us to pose for photos!
Next was the ferry crossing which was dragged out a bit as we missed the one we were meant to get! The first hour or so of the crossing was quite pretty as it was through Marlborough Sounds however as soon as we got out in the open it was quite rough - not one of my best boat journeys! W arrived in Wellington late afternoon and us girls on board decided to treat ourselves to a sanctuary room and an evening of chinese and pampering! A sanctuary room is and all girls floor with hairdryers, pink walls, a fluffy white towel, smellies ad best of all free champagne!!!! Me and Kirsty went on a mission to find face masks and returned hours later but successful! I got a whole duck and rice for 3 pounds!!!!! Score! A good evening was had and we all felt the benefits in the morning despite very spotty faces!
My first day in Wellington was spent with Karen exploring. We stopped briefly at Te Papa the national museum (where I saw students from New Zealand school of music play), and caught question time at the weirdly shaped parliament. Oh and of course we had to have a Starbucks along the way. He evening was spent finishing off the free champagne and munching scrambled eggs as midnight snacks!
Second day was a long one, after my roomie Neil dragged me out of bed at some ungodly hour and insisted on us doing something. We took the cable car up the hill and had a look around the cable car museum before strolling through the botanical gardens stopping at an observatory which was pretty cool. In the afternoon we went back to Te Papa and had a more successful visit doing all sorts of kiddie acivities (which I swear shouldn't have been for children!) Anyhow it was much fun and we soon lost track of time! This evening we got a pizza in and then went to see some amateur comedy - which was interesting if not funny!
Day 3 killed me prey much. I decided to get a bike out ad cycle around the local coast line. Well for hose of you that know me well I don't give up easily. 1 ended up cycling for 5 hours doing over 30k - it is now painful to sit down! However it was beautiful an I got to see a lot more than just the city of Wellington which I was happy about. Evening - Die Hard 4 in the poshest cinema I've ever seen. In fact it was the same one that Lord of the Rigs was premiered at! Awesome film though!
Last Day (today) I took a walk/climb up Mount Victoria and through the local woodland. Nice but I can say I'm ready to leave Wellington now for my White Water Rafting Adventure! He He
