After a day chilling out back in Queenstown, we hit the slopes. There are two main ski fields in Queenstown 'The Remarkables' and 'Coronet Peak'. The first day we headed up to 'The Remarkables' where it had snowed the night before. The off-piste was amazing and I soon got carried away taking Nick everywhere possible. He decided against following me when I was heading towards a river though - he's not quite that stupid! Anyway a good day was had and we certainly made the most of it. On the way home on the shuttle bus I spotted Pizza Hut and persuaded our room to go there to eat this evening -HEAVEN!!! And over here they have the buffet in the evenings and the ice cream factory also has jelly and chocolate cake!!!!!!
Second day was spent at Coronet - here the runs are nicer (slightly longer I think, which isn't saying much as everything is soo small here - one run takes 30 seconds to do -no exaggeration!). The park here was nothing compared to the one at The Remarks but ironically it is the one that got me.Yes, Louise was being a Lou-Lou and got hurt. Nick was really ill and so left me at lunch and I was planning only to do a few more runs before following him - however I got carried away at the park and got too cocky and before I knew it I had almost knocked myself out on a rail giving myself a lovely black eye and a very saw leg. That was the end of my second day!
Due to me being crippled an Nick ill we took he last day reasonably easy. Back at Remarkables I did a few runs before deciding he pain was too much and I swapped to skis. Whilst doing this however, Nick decided to go against everything he had said about me the day before and attempted a rail too - and yes you guessed it he hurt his shoulder! Maybe he is extremely stupid! But I found it funny. Today I also tried Tubing up on he mountain as we got it free with our pass. This was great fun being thrown, spun and pushed very hard down an ice slide inside a rubber ring!
Our last evening in Queenstown was celebrated by a Ferg burger whilst watching a rail comp right in the centre of town - nuts! I was ye again a failure and couldn't finish my burger but Nick was also beaten - by a girl! Ha ha ha - to be fair it was The Big Al - the biggest burger you ca get but still.
The next day we travelled back to Christchurch which took the best part of a day. We stopped at a few places – the church of the good shepherd and Mckenzies dog but apart from that it was nothing more than a long day on a coach. As it was Nick’s last night in Nz (and with me of course) he was very much the soppy romantic gentleman that he tries to hide and took me out for a meal which was very nice indeed. After a rather posh breccie in the morning and a quick walk around Christchurch Nick left and I spent the afternoon being moody!
