Regreso a Buenos Aires:
Yep! Argentina is almost over and we are two weeks away from starting our way back home. It has all gone so fast! On our return we will have to create a blog for our grandmothers now that they are so into computers. Tomorrow we will finally see Henrique and John for our last chapter of this adventure. Dread to think about what is waiting for us in Sao Paolo!!
We have been travelling lots on Argentinian buses for hours on end, doing day tours and a bit of chilling out. So here it goes.
Salta highlights:Having dinner in Santi´s Argentinian uncle´s restaurant - He is just like him but older, same gestures, same laugh, same comments. We love you Santi!
Seeing the enormous cactus, the 7 colour mountains, another amazing salt lake very different to the one in San Pedro de Atacama, and once more being surprised by the variety of the desert. We were amazed by the musical rocks.
The very funny horse ride during which we were much more scared than paragliding.
The Patio del Balcarce where we had a yummy dinner, a great waitress and Uxio at last feels that karma is restored from five years ago having to dance to dancing queen on the stage, after Lola was forced to dance the local folkloric dance on the stage in front of an all Argentinian audience. Awful!
The pop group playing in a trendy bar on Thursday night which was 3 fourteen year olds thinking they were the bees knees. They were o.k. until it was past their bed time and it all went pear shaped with their egos rising sky high. It felt a bit like Bugsy Malone.
Having lots of fun with the boys from Valencia, the girls from Basque country, the couple from Israel and of course all the Argentinian people we have found on our way.
Mendoza´s highlights:
Deciding that enough was enough and not going on any of the day tours we had booked other than the wine cellars and the chocolate factory. Not very exciting but some tasting.
Walking around Mendoza and the enormous park, including the view from the top of the mountain.
The bingo game organised in the bus on the way back to Buenos Aires
Back in Buenos Aires:
We decided to say goodbye to the country by having lunch in Cabaña las Lilas. No words can describe it.
In general:
Weirdly since we entered south America in Chile we have constantly been accused of stealing and loosing things which thankfully later appear in hands of the accusers, anything from several keys, to not paying all kinds of stuff, stealing other people´s clothes from the laundry, etc. It adds a bit of spice to it all.
