Day 153- We arrived at the bus terminal and once again said our goodbyes, knowing that this time we actually were leaving them and packed our bags onto the buses finding a seat. It pulled out on time and swung around the corner as we waved bye and settled in to try and get some sleep. Eve was feeling a lot better but still had to take a cocktail of pain killers. The villages became smaller and the roads more windy as we edged further North. We finally pulled into the tiny village of Marahau within the national park. We tried booking accommodation at the Barn which was the only place to stay in the area but they never answered the phone so couldn't get through. Luckily that morning my Mam managed to get through and book us a cabin so that was a load of stress of our mind. Once we checked in and had some breakfast we got straight onto the phone to Stray and asked what on earth happened, they admitted fault for the pick-up and also booked the rest of our buses for us all the way through to Christchurch, quickly mentioning that we were on the waiting-list for two of them. We would deal with that closer to the time but made sure we were confirmed on the next bus out. We emailed them with the details for a reimbursement of the tickets we had to buy from Nelson to Abel Tasman and set about exploring the park. We put on our hiking shoes and followed the coastal trail. The views were great and the beaches gorgeous with crystal clear waters. We walked for an hour before we turned back as Eve was exhausted. Back at the village we looked through an outdoor art gallery displaying traditional wooden sculptures and also inside showcased some hand-crafted from jade and animal bone. Back at our cabin we had a nap and then just chilled out in the area around the Barn until we watched the sunset and then made some tea. We had an early night and hoped that Stray wouldn't continue to be the nightmare it started out to be.
