Day 104- The supermarket was in the opposite direction to the beach so after breakfast we headed there first as we were running low on food. After dropping it off at the hostel we headed down the beach. We Walked along the harbour which was beautiful. There were loads of Pelican's, the fishermen were standing in the port gutting the fish and throwing it at the Pelican's which was fun to watch for a while. We continued along and found a lovely little spot to sit for a while. We continued along the harbour and there was hundreds of brightly coloured painted rocks on the breakwall. Some were memorials, some family holidays and some just beautiful artwork. We looked at them for far to long walking along and soon noticed the time, it was about 2:45pm and we wanted to be at the Koala hospital for the feeding time by 3pm and it was a good half an hour walk. We left straight away and walked as fast as we could and managed to get there at 5 past just as the tour was beginning. The Koala hospital was full of Koala's who had been injured by dog attacks road accidents, bush fires or disease. They were all being nursed back to health and it was lovely to hear all the amazing stories of recovery. We invested in two mini Koala clip's which were so cute and decided that they would be little xmas tree decorations for when we eventually get a xmas tree one day to remind us of xmas in Australia. We headed back to the hostel along the coast and walking back I heard some one shout my name which was strange. I turned round to see Esther and Peter, our friends that we had met on our Whitsundays tour, we spoke to them for a while and they told us about a market in the town centre so after a catch up we headed over. The market was a bit small and quiet so we decided to head back up to the hostel. We made some lovely beef burgers for tea and read our books with a glass of goon.
Day 105- We got up and checked out of our room. We wanted to skype home and get some things sorted so we walked down to McDonalds for free wifi. Once there we gave in to coffee and cake and ended up spending far to long Skyping home, the staff were probably sick of us. We dropped the laptop off back at the hostel, we were still so full from the cake so skipped lunch and headed straight back out. We walked to Rotto house which was about a 45 minute walk away and just next to the Koala hospital. We wanted to go yesterday but it was shut by the time we got out of the hospital. The house was a lovely old building that told the story of the family who built it and used to live there. It was like stepping back in time, the rooms were done up to the original standard and it was great to read each family members story. We headed back to hostel and made it back just before the heavens opened, we made some pasta for tea then jumped on the shuttle bus to catch our Greyhound bus. It was raining very heavily and the bus turned up an hour late. Once finally on it we started our trip to Newcastle. Once there we had to run our little legs off with our massive bags on to catch the last bus to our couchsurfer's house. Luckily he was there to meet us on the other side. Josh was lovely and showed us around the house, we were staying in the converted garage which was nice and comfortable. We talked for a while and headed to bed just after mid-night.
