¿Qué Tal Todos?
For the past two weeks I´ve been staying in Alicante and in the words of my mother....why haven´t I had time to call or write....well as you all know me well enough I have made sure that I haven´t had free time at all of course!
I only used the computer to write my 2 essays in Spainish one of them being 2000 words and create my two presentations that had to be 15 mins in Spanish as well...
However in between doing those two things I´ve manged to enjoy myself here in Alicante as well. I´ve hung out on the beach with my Spanish and American friends a couple of times and we actually went to a small island close to here callled Tabarca. A couple american friends and I took the boat there sunday morning at 1...which was too early for any of our other friends to be awake and went to the island. We got there and my friend forgot her bocadillo (sandwich) so we sat down to eat at the expensive restuarant....they trap you on an island so what else can you do right....
anyway we were all so glad we did. We shared the cheapest thing on the menu and it was the best rice/paella dish I´ve had since I´ve been here. I can only imagine what their seafood dishes tasted like. We didn´t leave one drop of food and it was great! Afterwards we found a quite little beach on the island that the main tourists didn´t know about and hung out, swam, and sun tanned. It was a nice little get away and it felt like we didn´t spend the whole weekend in Alicante doing hw so that was fun.
I also managed to go to the muesum, do a lot of rebajas shopping...mom you´d be proud of my bargans, and went to a spanish movie that was actually made in Spain and not a dubbed over enlish version like most of the others. It was pretty good. I understood the jist of what was going on and it was pretty funny...however I wasn´t crazy about the ending...the guy didnt get the girl...i guess I miss my American sappy love stories....good thing pretty women was on tv the other night. :)
So I took one of my exams today and I have one more tomorrow. After I walked out of my exam it hit me...wow I actually learned a lot on this trip. I took pretty much the same exam that I almost had a mental break down after the first time and it was soooo much easier for me. I mean I´m def not where near fluent and I can´t always understand ppl movies or express myself but I def know where more than before and I can handle myself in a Spanish speaking country.
Now that I have one real day left it is sad that everything is winding down and I¨ll be saying goodbye to most of the ppl I´ve met and my friends for the rest of my life probably. However, this has been such a great experience that has taught me sooo much and I´ll never forget it and everyone in it. I´m so glad I ended up in Alicante when I was almost headed for Sevilla...without a beach...everything has turned out great and I´ve so greatful that I´ve had the chance to go on a trip like this.
So tomorrow after our exam we have a final boat trip with the entire staff for final goodbyes and then I´m going to eat a final meal with my padres and make sure I´m all packed and then meet up with my friends on the beach for one final boltellón and final goodbyes to Alicante and everything that has become familiar and my home for the past 6 weeks.
However, I do get to come back to my country and everything and everyone I love in the states. As much as I love Spain....it might actually be too laid back for me...I would never get anything done if I had fiestas and siestas alll the time. So believe or not I´m excited to see everyone and get back to the crazy schedule that is my life as well.
Now off to study for my final test...but first beach/study on the beach. Love you all and I´ll see you back in the states in a few days!
