¡Hola todos!
The birthday party we had for my friend was really fun. Not many people showed up because a lot of them were tired from the beach and had homework but me being the nerd that I am did my homework on the beach. However the group we did have had a good time. However I ended up staying way later than I wanted because one of my friends decided to sing karaoke. After i was tired of cursing her that she drug us out later I discovered that she had an amazing voice! She had such a big voice for a little girl. So the staying out too late was worth it.
The next day we had out basketball game with all of the guys and some of our Spanish friends. It was a lot of fun and we had 5 girls who could really play too so that was exciting. However, the guys voted me mvp of the league because they thought I had the most points and they want me to play with them tomorrow at 10 in the morning when they are keeping score. That would consist of getting up early but I´ll think about it. Also I wanted to go to one of the open air markets tomorrow so idk what I´ll do yet.
As for last night, I was studying for my test this morning and I was really tired and I didnt want to go to the big firework ceremony called the mascleta. It marks the beginning of the festivals...well again...since i thought there were already 2 parades to mark the beginning lol. But my madre talked me into going. It was only a 2 minute walk from our apartment and she said they would be really short. Dios mio, I´m so glad that I went. The were beautiful fireworks that they shoot off right in the middle of downtown with all the huge buildings surrounding them. It was a great and exciting show to see and I kinda enjoyed them more than the 4th of July in Bellevue...I guess I wont have to worry about missing out on fireworks....however my madre told me that there would be even better fireworks the last day of the festival and they would be shot over the sea. Exciting!
Anyway today I took my mock exam. I don´t think it went great but everyone said that it was hard. It´s nice to have a pratice exam so next time I´ll know what to expect. Then we went and toured the Alicante hospital. I really enjoyed the tour and learning about the healthcare system. We got to chect out the neonato regiòn and we saw a baby that was only 700g. It was soo tiny.
Now I´m off to go meet up with some of my spanish friends that I meet through CIEE. Hopefully I´ll be able to understand what they are saying! Then, comienza el fin de semana!
amor,
Lindsey
