Well we've just retired from our Disneyland shenanigans for an afternoon break while the sun is high, the kids are crazy, and the lines are long. Like, looooooong. Like, 70 minutes for one 3 minute ride kinda long. No deal! It's awesome if you've got a good strategy though, cause you get there super early in the morning, ride rides like crazy, chill out in the arvo for a while (shop, sleep whatever) then go back round 6ish when all the parents finally throw in the towel and take their youngsters home and it's time for real big kid fun! =D
This morning was 'magic morning' so we began our day at the park at 7:00am hitting up all the mega cute rides like the spinning teacups and, my personal favourite, Peter Pan. We then worked our way up to some that were slightly more intense, and by slightly I mean I nearly cried I was so terrified. Which is ridiculous, because there were seven year old children in the seats around me and they thought it was great. Ridiculous. Haha One of them was called space mountain, and it's a rollercoaster that's entirely in the dark that goes super, super fast with all these unexpected drops and sharp turns and well, I'm really glad it wasn't til after that that we had breakfast!
We had super special Disney breakfast this morning, at the Plaza in the Park, at the very centre of Disneyland. It's a special character breakfast where Minnie Mouse and all her friends come round to see you while you're eating. But by far the best thing about this breakfast, were the waffles. Small Mickey shaped pastry pieces of amazing goodness! You have them with banana pecan cream and maple syrup (trying so hard to drool on my computer screen right now) and it's just a world of goodness on a plate. Mmmm…I got some super cute photos with Minnie and a couple of other characters when we felt fit to move again, then we headed off for some tame stomach-friendly rides.
We spent ages in this attraction called 'Innoventions' which showcases upcoming inventions that have been designed for the home and will probably be standard in the not-so-distant future. Like a touch screen that sits flat on your coffee table where you can showcase photos, or have these cool settings where you touch the screen and draw light to your fingertips. It's actually kinda hard to describe how cool it was. And the attraction is like a house of the future so you see all the rooms with digital pictures on the walls that change periodically and everything (like, EVERYTHING) is electronically operated, even the curtains!!! Frankly, I think I'm probably OK with opening my own curtains but hey hehe
After we emerged from the cool darkness of the Innoventions attraction we found the park absolutely teeming with people, and after waiting a good 20 minutes in a line for a ride (even with a special Fast Pass) we decided it might be time for a little afternoon break. We browsed through a few shops in Down Town Disney on the way back to the motel and oh my goodness, ladies - I am in shopping heaven! Gorgeous Roxy T-Shirts for less than $20 (Australian!!!) and with the exchange rate the way it is at the moment it's almost too good to be true! =D
Well I'm going to have a quick power nap before we head back!
Hope your lives are as sweet as Mickey Mouse waffles right now =)
