It has officially been Sunday the 20th of July FOREVER!! We touched down in LA this morning after a 13 hour flight, and let me just say, thank god for drugs. And by drugs I mean sleeping pills! =D haha Oh and Lightening Touch (a miracle under eye dark circle remover sold at Body Shop - still selling for them and I don't even work there anymore! Hehe) These two things saved me today…which is now yesterday because shortly after writing the previous sentence I fell sound asleep thanks to said drugs! Haha and voila - no jetlag! Well…less jetlag than I was expecting anyway.
When we touched down in LA we prepared ourselves for an hour long wait and intensive interrogation by the customs officials, only to be whisked through in under 20 minutes and onto our shuttle bus just a few moments later! Easy! We got to the little motel we're staying at and spent one very long hour in the tiny lobby, trying desperately not to fall asleep while we waited for check in time. We went to revive ourselves with some food, but there's not much around, and upon entering Denny's and deciding that pretty much everything was deep-fried (like probably even the bottled water somehow) so we got some cereal from the local mini-mart instead.
Which brings me to an interesting point - food in LA. Firstly how strange it can be, and secondly how colossally huge it is! I have taken so many photos of hilarious and enormous food produce here because it's really just quite absurd. By far the strangest thing we've seen so far was Turkey, Ham and Cheese sandwich, deep-fried and dusted with sugar served with some kind of berry sauce…I know right, crazy. Haha And in the candy store at Disneyland (which oh my goodness I could go on about forever, I was like a kid in a candy store…literally! Lol) has these rice crispy squares and cupcakes and chunks of rocky road about the size of my head!! Even the smallest size of coffee cup that I had this morning was big enough to give me crazy caffeine jitters for several hours. Fortunately, being summer and California, there's also plenty of beautiful fresh fruit around.
Disneyland is a world of fun! I am like the biggest kid of them all. I walk down Main Street in the centre of the park with eyes wide as saucers taking photos of things in the windows or of the people serving from their cute food carts and people look at my like I'm strange and frankly I don't know how they can't understand how amazing and adorable it all is. The attention to detail is incredible. In each of the areas of the theme park, like Adventureland or Frontierland, absolutely everything is themed, from the food and gardens, right down to the signs and the bins. When we watched the 'Parade of Dreams' this afternoon the costumes were exquisite and I swear Ariel (the Little Mermaid) waved right at me!!! =D Aaaah anyway…
It's a bit like sensation overload at the moment because everywhere I look there's amazing things to see and do, and there's all these wonderful smells and yummy tastes and there's even constantly happy, dreaming music playing throughout the park. So we're just back at the motel at the moment having a little bit of a break before we head back in the evening when it's cooled down a little. There's plenty of fun photos for you to check out so enjoy! My mobile phone's officially closed for business now but I'll let you all know as soon as I have some more concrete phone/address contact details!
Much love,
