After receiving an email from Mum saying i hadnt really mentioned the Taj Mahal i realised that i completely missed that out!
So here we go...if i can remember as it feels ages ao now!(and i also have a cool-kid on his laptop next to me playing some annoying 80's hit that repeats the words 'where did you go...my lovely'....ahhhhh!!!)
We arrived in Agra at around lunchtime.I had a slight panic as i thought id lost my bag that had my camera and spending money in for it only to be delivered up to my room by Aleisha who had found it in reception! (Panic no. 1 wennie poos!)
We went to the Red Fort first of all which was very impressive. We had a great tour guide here who actually knew everything about the place. We couldnt go in the tower where you can see the Taj in the diamond as apparently these days its shut off to the public. Jon realised here that the the lead he had for his camera was the wrong one and lauren has forgotten hers so they were thinking up a way to get them sent out!
From the fort you could get a great view of the Taj in the background so it got us quite excited about our visit there later in the day!
We got to the Taj Mahal at about 4 o'clock. This meant that we were able to see the sun set here and get some great pictures. The place was so busy so many nationalities. It was probably the first place that we actually saw other westerners! The sun shone a great orange colour on the Taj's white marble....it was definately the best time in the day to visit it. It is breathtaking how big it is!
A guy offered to take some photo's of us which was good as the boys had a longer queue to get in that us so we went on! He took some cool pictures but then demanded money...we gave him 10 rupees which is about 12p so still not bad.
We wern't able to see the inside as it was too dark and there is no lighting but its not meant to be that impressive anyway. Everyone asks to have photos taken with us because we are westeners! It feels strange....like we are famous or something! (changing the subject- today(28th) we went to a museum and everyone was asking for our photos and then we were followed with people hiding in the bushes and stuff to take a sneaky one!Paparazzi!)
We travelled back to the hotel by eco-friendly cars that are battery powered! At night they get charged up.Quite funny as we travel at about 10 miles an hour.... Our hotel is pretty cool Lauren and I have the biggest room(bet the german isn't too pleased about that!)Had dinner up on the roof of the hotel in the revolving restaurant which makes you really disorientated and a bit sick!
Thats a pretty poor attempt to describe the Taj Mahal! Its a place you have to see to believe how huge it is!
Mum said its raining with you guys....its pretty cushty here-about 30 oC!!We were saying that it doesn't seem possible that Christmas is just round the corner.
Hope your all jolly!
Love xxxxxxxx
