DAY ELEVEN-DIVING DAY 1
So apprehensively I said to myself at 8'o Clock-Lets do this!So i got up and waited to be picked upand taken to our theory days. Feeling most refreshed from my sleep too. There are 3 others onn my course Dutch Andrea- who I meet breifly in Coral Bay also witrh EASY RIDER, Nikolas, French and Lauren from melbourne. So we are sat around and Philip our dive instructor began to immerse us into the world of diving. Tea and bisiuts for breakfast, we sat and read throughchapters and a video for knowledge. It was very similar in structure to the RSLA and really fun learning and being back at school!
Today we learnt the basic about pressure, equpiment and what to do to descend and ascend. After lunch we went we wnt back to the dive shop to pick up some fins, suits and other dive equipment. Waering 2 wetsuits, a weightbelt and a BCG jacket and air tank we walked around the corner from teh dive shop to the potshot resort and stood around the pool with swimmers and bathers bemused smiles. We were then instructed to take our first breath under water. We slowly decended by deflating our BCG jackets and everything was done very fast, regulator in, jacket deflated and sinking.....
It was a very unusual experience and when going down to the bottom of the floor I was unsure whether to trust the regulator and sank down feeling a little weird. We went through some skills and that concluded the day of diving. I'm not too sure whether I like itm but i'm sure it'll be better in the ocean.
I jostled back tothe hostel and friendly faces everywhere made my dinner and sat with Kai and then popped to the Bottle-O for a few beersto watch a film at the campsite outside. Tonnight was Beowulf. It's great having a bit of a normal life for a change. I'm feeling I'm working towards that Fiji trip and I can't wait to see the fishes and coral under the sea...~
