Hello All

On this day we got up and said goodbye to Alex, Anna-Rosa and Petita (matthew's substitute mother but nowhere near as good as the real thing).

Arrived in Quito after the 2flights and Matthew stupidly tipped the porter who didn´t carry our luggage but got us a taxi $1. The taxi driver tried to charge us $7 for a $3 taxi ride from the airport but we haggled and saved the $1 that Matthew tipped the first guy. We took down his taxi number to try and freak him out but it didn´t work.

We got a far better room in Folklore but it came at the expense of the better TV reception so we lost our beloved movie channel. The pillows were still terrible and the bathroom window was broken but the room really was much bigger and had a dresser for Lisa to sit and put on her makeùp.

We sort of settled in and went hunting for the Pizza Hut we noticed on our first trip around the new town. We got really lost for about 20mins but we found an equally good and less expensive ecuadorian version which was really nice. We wandered around for a bit and went to the spiral shopping mall where, for some reason, there was a fashion show which was quite interesting. Lisa bought a nativity scene in a walnut shell from a little artisan shop nearby.

Had an early night because we had plenty to do the next day.
