Hello once again!
My apologies for the inconsistency of my blog, I will do my best to remain as consistent as possible.
After hearing about the secluded, off the beaten path, Jiquilillo. Tina, whom already had stayed there, and I took a half days bus ride to the north Pacific coast. The Rancho Tranquilo, owned and operated by Tina the Gringa, originaly from San Francisco, she has found her piece of paradise on the deserted beach home to millions of seashells.
Deserted does not begin to describe this beach, having an almost ghost town quality. The beach stretches for miles with seldom a soul. The thunderous sound of the constant waves crashing and bringing about new seashells, provided a gentle lullaby. I quickly found myself at ease in the warm and inviting atmosphere of the Hostel. Great vegetarian meals from Mama, were enough to fill anyones appetite, as she cooked for the guest at a mere 3 dollars a plate. After a couple nights, we´d had our fill and once again made our way back to bustling Leon.
As I am travelling, in find myself in reading overdrive, and will keep you up to date on the current titles I´ve read. That being said, I would love to hear any suggestions you may have, regarding great, and lenghty, literature. I am also making a point to read more french literature. As I am not at all familiar with it, let me know whaich titles I should look out for.
I´m currently reading a 6th novel, Tandia by Bryce Courtenay. the following are the titles I´ve already read, beginning with the latest.
5. Whitethorn - Bryce Courtenay. as with all of his novels, extremly rich storytelling at it´s finest. His novels will surely capture your heart.
4. The Shadow of the Wind - Carlos Ruiz Zafon. This is one of the best reads I´ve had so far, recommened to all! A gothic masterpiece set in mid 20th century Spain.
3. A Complicated Kindness - Miriam Toews. Great Canadian author, reminscing of Salinger. Explores a young girls struggle in the mennonite community.
2. The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio - Terry Ryan. A daughters cute biography of her contesting mother. Took me a day to read.
1. Forever Odd - Dean Koontz. The second in the Odd Thomas trilogy, a likeable hero with supernatural gifts. I´m on the lookout for the third, Brother Odd.
I´ll keep you updated on my currents reads, and I strongly welcome any suggestions!
