Lindsey and Melissa's Bogus Journey
Greetings everyone!!!
Hope all is well with everyone at home. We have bee keeping extremely busy and have been having a great time.
Since the last update we have had quite a bit of excitement. We spent a week in Queenstown, which as i mentioned is similar to Banff at home. They even have a singles night at the grocery store...if you have bananas in your basket, apparently you are looking...we though it was pretty funny, however we did not participate. So needless to say, a great nightlife and lots to see. Our first day there we decided to do some river boarding....which was pretty extreme. Basically, we rafted 5km down a river with grade 3 rapids for 5km....only we had no raft, just a boogie board. You clung on to that board for your dear life. You would go through the rapids trying to follow the leader through the right path while trying to stay above water. Very fun but challenging!!
After that, I (Lindsey) convinced my self to do a bungy. It was such a rush...freaky but great. The initial jump is scary and after that you don't know which way is which. I had Melissa convinced to do it one night, but in the morning, after the glasses of courage had worn off, she decided against it.
Other than that, we did some sight seeing, lots of Lord of the Rings scenery and took a drive up to one of the ski fields....much different than ours. Not nearly so big, that is for sure. Nightlife definitely a highlight of the Q-Town!
We then headed to the Milford sound for another kayak trip...yep, we are pretty much pros now. The scenery was amazing! We had a great day, pretty windy but had fun riding the waves. Definitely a good workkut as we kayaked about 10km. Luckily, we got split up and put with some strong young men so our day was a bit easier!
We the headed to the most southern city in NZ, Invrcargill. It is a smaller place, not many tourists so we weren't expecting too much excitement. Just our luck though, there happened to be a Super 14 rugby game the day we were there, which only happens once a year...so it was the biggest night out for that place. We went to the game with our kayak partners, some crazy irishman and an aussie, and proceeded to finish a flat of beer at the game. Sorry for all the phone calls to those who were lucky enough to receive them. In our defence...it was only 10:00 here....wait, maybe that is not a good defence. Anyways, it was a good time.
Which takes us to today, in Dundedin. We have a chocolate factory (YUMMY) and brewery tour planned for today. Sadly, we are way more pumped for the chocolate. After that...who knows!!
We have posted more pics on the kodak site. We have so many we want to share but unfortunately it takes way too long so we have shared a few. Thanks for checking in!
