So... I travelled "Home Home" (everybody know this can only mean I went back to my mam & dads!) last Thursday. making the most of a Bank Holiday, which fell at the perfect time! Lyndsey Gowans 30th Birthday!!! Lynz had no idea I was going to make the journey back as a special visit for her! Priceless!
I made arrangements with friends to meet in a pub on Friday early evening... She was being brought along, unsuspectingly, to find me sat there with a pint! How she was ever going to recognise me I'll never know... I was sat with a stick on moustache!! In disguise!
Amazing evening.. Fun & Frolics! A cheeky game of beer pong put in there for good measure!
The one thing about being back that I really love, is no matter how long its been.. Its like I've never been away! No akward moments of not really knowing what to say.. A sign of true friendship I'd say.
The other thing about being home that I don't love... It always bloody rains! Leaves me with no desire to ever move back! So miserable & like I'd said in the last entry, the sunshine makes a whole world of difference to a place, to people! Misersable, grey, gloomy skies & rain are no fun at all!
So the party begun on Friday... Followed by FC on Saturday... Then more partying on Saturday evening! It was great being back in English pubs and bars. That is one thing that no where else quite gets right. The atmosphere in a pub in the UK & Ireland is so different to anywhere else. People are just people, being themselves and allowed to be. The music I think sets the tone and music in the UK is like no other in the world.. America, Africa, Australia... Germany certainly doesn't have it!! I know you have to go to the right places in England & Kenya certainly had clubs with a good mix to get your groove on to.. I do miss the craic of nights out in the UK. Just a different atmosphere..
It was only a flying visit so I did miss some people! Its hard going back and trying to fit everyone in! This weekend was about one thing only, so it made it easier to apologise to those who were left off the list... But thats a small price I pay, it's not really a price either as it's always great to catch up with old friends!
But I'm back now, only for a week! I did say teaching has its perks! Half term begins on Friday! Woo hoooooo! Heading off to a few new places too, always exciting!! Munich.. then Bratislava..
Let the funtimes roll!
