We were desperate for some good weather after the freezing temperatures of the altiplano. So we travelled 16 hours overnight to Mancora, almost on the border with Ecuador.
As usual, we treated ourselves to the best seats on the bus. We also got to play Bingo, which was difficult with our limited Spanish. Aidan went racing upstairs to tell the hostess he'd won. He hadn't, he'd got his numbers wrong. Fingers crossed for the journey home.
Our plans were to do nothing in Mancora! It's our final week so we were quite happy to chill for a week. Plus we couldn't come home without a tan.
So there isn't much to report about our week in Mancora. We stayed at some beautiful bungalows, which had a little pool and was very Bali style. We ate out day and night and have now eaten at every restaurant in town.
Aidan got up early this morning to go shopping for family gifts. I warned him the shops were non-existent but he insisted. He came back with no presents.
On the last day we went on a little adventure. We'd heard there were some mud baths close by, which were worth visiting. So we got a little man to take us in his motortaxi (very unstable tuk tuk style things). Journey there was pretty horrific. When we got there we were gutted. It was a tiny hole cut out of the mud, which looked far from appealing. It really did smell bad, so we didnt stay long. Then our guide told us off and made us get back in! Aidan threw out his swimming trunks when we got back, they smelt so bad.
Katie.
