Well today I start my tour. This is going to be a short blog as have got my meeting for tour in less than hours time. I am at sister hotel writing this. Hotel is very nice, small and independent and staff are very helpful. It uses an old fashioned lift with grills to slide open. Saturday I moved to the hotel and in afternoon went to Adsharkham temple (need to check spelling of that). Was absolutly beautiful. Was a pain to get in though as had to deposit bags, camera, USB stick before going in. I was gutted to discover at security after depositing bags that still had a USB stick on me which I had forgotten about so had to re-join queue again. Was nice as an indian family took me around with them for exhibitions. At Adsharkham I visited temple, went in exhibitions (2 films and a boat ride) and also saw a musical and light fountain at night. The boat ride was in Hindi but person in boat controlling the audio briefly put it into English for me which was really nice but a bit embarassing as some of others in boat probably needed it in Hindi.
Yesterday I went to Jantar Mantar and then to Kingdom of Dreams (which is where photo above is taken). Not best photo of me but I just took pot luck for which photo I downloaded. Its a little like a mini Las Vegas just showing Indian regions as they had the similar sky etc to Vegas and you had no idea what time it was unless you looked at watch pretty much. At Kingdom of Dreams I went and saw a bollywood musical which was really good. I had headphones in to hear it dubbed in English when speaking parts were happening. Only thing is I had to press headphones quite alot into ears to drown actors voices. There I also had a back massage and reflexology on my feet. It was lovely. Amusing when you think that I paid to have my back and bum massaged by a man when I could probably get it free in India. Most of time don't want them touching me but must say it was very relaxing. Bit of problem in I wanted to close my eyes but had to keep an eye on bag. Weird to have a male massage me though. Then after that had a meal from Kerala as Kingdom of Dreams has food from all the different regions of India. I discovered that liked that food but was too sweet to have a whole bowl of it. It was quite funny as while I was eating I was suddenly aware that children kept going behind me and a camera was pointing in my direction so I put my spoon down. When the Indian family realised I had sussed what they were doing they asked whether they could have a photo with me. It can be like being a celebrity in India being an English person travelling. I look forward to the anonimity again in England. I then went in a shop and had a leaf with all different flavours in it. It is the Indian version of mouth freshener. I wasn't too sure about it sometimes it was nice sometimes it was too much for me.
Today been a little stressful as was trying to send things back home as too heavy and too bulky to take with me on tour. When I was walking along I think I must have disturbed a rat sunbathing as suddenly saw its tail dart into a drain ahead of me. Think it was a rat but could have been a mouse but his tail seemed quite long for mouse. I've ended up having to send it by courier and paying more for delivery than what its worth but its memories and I didn't want it being left behind. They wouldn't take it at post office so had a long trip to send it as wasn't sure where there was a courier service in Connaught Place so ended up travelling pretty much all the way back to where I had left Saturday as knew there was a courier service there.
Just been smelling burning and wondering what it was. Thought it couldn't be the computer as it is a lovely modern computer. It was one of hotel staff having cigarette next to me.
