This morning we woke up slightly earlier than normal so that we could go into town to collect the paint for our mural. We woke up at around 8 expecting to go to church with Fidah at 9.30. After breakfast, we waited for around an hour and a half before Fidah arrived. She informed us that the church was running on Ugandan time (as usual) and had started an hour late. The church service was relatively similar to those we had experienced in England. In the morning we went to the local market, where we bought scrubbing brushes for the mural at school and tried to avoid looking at the fly-covered meat carcasses and stretched innards at some of the stalls. Today, instead of going to Nakanyonyi School, we took part in a trip to see wells installed in villages by the Busoga Trust. At 10am we met a group from Bristol Cathedral School, as their teacher Peter had funded a well here. Chris Bodimeade, who used to go to Hampton, has been working for the trust for 2 years and gave us a talk before we left about the projects they do in the Busoga region. At breakfast this morning we decorated some wooden plaques with glitter glue for the art teacher. We were then picked up by Fidah and taken to a local paint shop to buy supplies for our mural. When we arrived at the school, we showed some of the girls the decorated plaques. They were very impressed and excited to try it themselves.
