Day 5.
Foot update - Went to hospital and had a stronger drip. Doc recons I’ll have to have it cut open if there is no improvement overnight. Luckily I found out that as I’m English, I can use NZ hospitals free of charge because of an agreement between the 2 countries, phhewww! More Football Manager and downloaded poker tv shows on laptop.
Day 6.
Foot update - Went back for another drip and docs decided to cut my foot open as the infection was forming an abscess under the skin. As he was busy, a nurse asked if I wanted her to do it quickly with a needle and I agreed. After a few punctures, I didn’t realise her next move would be to squeeze the hell out of it until all the infection came out with no pain relief. I was in agony, had to bite down on the pillow, and my eyes were watering! Eventually it popped like a huge spot and I was free to go. The release of pressure was exactly what I needed, as I was able to walk around after and even took a 25min walk into town with Duncan once I got back to the hostel. I feel like a new man!
