Just a quick update since my phone aint working and i cant get on skype as often. After a 24 hour bus ride from Vientienne (Laos) I'm now here in Hanoi. Wasnt expecting to come to vietnam at all but after getting to vang vieng and meeting up with fellow teacher fiona and some of the guys she was travelling with by the time I'd lost a few days to tubing and hangovers I was convinced that travelling to halong bay with these guys would be a laugh.

Theres just the four of us travelling mow, me, fiona, paul and cormack (I take a lot of teasing for being the only english) and we'll prob stick together for the next few days and see what happens after that. My plan is to head down the coast cross back through cambodia and be back in bangkok in a couple of weeks, but then so far i keep meeting awesome people and staying places way longer tyhan planned. Thats the top thing after the last time I guess, no plans this time, I can go where the wind blows now a days and I am having the time of my life!

Vang vieng was great fun but a bit of a paradise lost, its kinda like the american spring break there now, lots of people getting very drunk and throwing themselves off rope swings not even noticing the amazing scenery around them. I was a happy observer and only had the guts (or common sense) to do a couple of the slides. Such a good time even though the weather turned miserable I enjoyed it sooooooooo much but Its a bit like the twilight zone and days pass without you noticing. There were a couple of bars open till dawn out on an island with hammocks and campfires, it was pretty perfect!

On to vientienne for a couple of nights which was much more civilised with meals and a jazz club both nights and then yesterday we borded our sleeper bus and arrived here 26 hours l;ater. Just waiting for the boys to shower and were heading out for food and a beer before they jjoy of actually sleeping in a proper bed tonight! mmmmm

Was gonna go the thai islands and still may make it down there but with all the flooding I thought I'd hit the surf on Vthe vietnamese coast first. My basic plan is from here to halong bay, halong bay down to ninh binh on to hue then hoi an then nah trang, miu nie then dalat before arriving in ho chi minh!
