Well this is our last stop in NZ before we head back down to Auckland to catch our flight over to Australia, the last two months have gone so quickly this is a truely amazing place and I've had the time of my life.
We thought we'd leave the Bay of Islands till last as we thought the weather would be better, how wrong could we be it's like being in Ilha Grabde all over again. Cant really complain too much as the sun did come out yesterday afternoon when we went horse riding, finally.
On our way up we visted the forest where Tane Mahuta ("God of the forest") is, this is a 2000 year old Kauri tree and it's massive.
Whilst weve been here we've also gone up to Cape Reinga and 90 Mile beach but the weather was pants so we couldn't see much but it was a really good day as we got to go sand boarding (I fell off but didn't break anything) and digging for clams. We did try to eat one of the clams we had just dug up but it was gross and I spat mine out much to the amusement of the bus driver and katherine.
Yesterday we were lucky enough to finally get to go horse riding up on a volcano where you can see all of the bay, I fell off my horse but didn't break anything and I was over whelmed by the concern from Katherine who just sat on her horse and laughed (and is still laughing now). After the fall we headed off and had a really good afternoon although my backside is really hurting now. As it was our last night we went out for tea and a few cheeky drinks with one of the girls we met on the bus, when we got back found out that my brand new board shorts had been stolen! I'd had them less than a week, so I'm currently a slightly bruised unhappy camper. Luckily the hostel have just installed CCTV cameras and have got pictures of the people who did it so hopefully they'll catch them but I don't hold out much hope for my lovely board shorts.
Think this will be my last journal entry from NZ, I've had a blast here despite the recent events of the last few days, so thank you NZ it's been fun!
