Today we left the unit quite late and set off for the small town of Jamieson. When we arrived, we had a drive through the town only to find it pretty deserted. There wasn't much there and the only coffee shop was closed…Jamieson, done!
We headed up the mountains just outside the town and stopped at a lookout point with fantastic views of Lake Eioden for a few photos. Our main stop of the day was the Jamieson Brewery, where we'd booked in for lunch. We arrived early so we sat and had a coffee before it was time for our tour of the brewery. This turned out to be a bit different to the ones we've done in New Zealand…the brewery consisted of a single room where the whole process happened - a very small-scale operation! They make six different beers that are shipped all over the country and the demand is much greater than the amount that they produce. Their biggest seller is a raspberry beer, which we got to try at the end of the tour. It tasted very different, but good in the hot weather.
Time for lunch…the meals were huge and the food was pretty good. I had their version of a chicken parmo, which reminded me of home except that it wasn't quite as big as the Boro version!
Feeling very full, we drove back to the resort to pack - back to Melbourne and an apartment with T and Laura tomorrow!

Maria Bailey I remember how the 'brewery tour' was sold to us at the Welcome Meeting! We all got the impressions that it was going to be something spectacular. It was quite unique and I did enjoy the raspberry beer. We will remember it as something quite quaint and off the beaten track - literally! Another good experience.
