Dave had to cancel his morning swim in the lake today, as we woke up to rain and grey skies. We had a lazy morning; got up late and sat watching TV for a while before heading into Mansfield to explore some more.
We parked up and walked up the main street, stopping to browse in some shops. We'd noticed on the map that there were Botanic Gardens, but when we got there found it was more of a park, nothing much 'botanic' about it. We looked around for an internet café, but when we found one it was closed. When we stopped for coffee, the waitress suggested the library, but as it was Saturday afternoon, that was also closed! Guess we won't be online much this week!
After lunch, we stocked up on food in the supermarket, then headed back to the resort. We had to attend a welcome meeting at 5:30, so we read for a few hours, and Dave went for a swim.
At the welcome meeting we drank our free wifi and ate the free nibbles - we ate all of the crisps on our table in about 2 minutes, so Dave swapped the bowl with the table next to ours…right before 4 people sat down at it - oops! We were welcomed to the resort and told all about things to do in the area - don't think we'll run out of things to do around here! We were also warned about snakes that may be around the resort - nice!
We had to walk through the rain to get back to our unit afterwards, but it wasn't as bad as it looked and we made it back without drowning. For tea, Mam cooked Spanish Chicken, and then we sat and watched 'Taken' with Liam Neeson and Shannon from 'Lost'. It was a good film, but Aussie TV has as many Ad breaks as America, so it was probably half an hour longer than it needed to be.
A good first day in Mansfield for us all!

Maria Bailey I had forgotten about the rain -as you say, it didn't seem as bad when we were walking in it. Mansfield is a very sleepy town, but we liked it a great deal. Lovely memories :-)
