Frankfurt International Airport, 460, Flughafen Frankfurt am Main, Frankfurt, Darmstadt, Hessen, Germany
First experience on an autobahn (german motorway with no max speed limits) was interesting. Thomas picked me up from Frankfurt airport, after catching the train there from Munich when my direct flight was overbooked to Frankfurt.
I quickly realised that a group of Australian drivers would not survive on the autobahn. It's all a highly organised system where you must stay to the right at all times, unless overtaking. Sure we say we do this (sticking to the left) on our freeways, but in comparison to the way they drive on the autobahn we don't at all. Even the ferraris going 200k/h+ will speed along the far left lane, however if there is a gap, they merge right back to the 'slow lane' until another car is their way - rather than staying in the fast lane. Here's hoping we don't ever get autobahns in Australia, I don't think we're disciplined enough to stick to the rules this strictly!
