Our first organised game drive of the trip was the most disorganised … there we were at 6am with another forty people all waiting to be arranged onto the available vehicles. There weren't enough to start with, some people had tickets some didn't some had paid some hadn't … eventually we were ushered onto a truck with; as it turned out some nuns!(I have no problem with nuns per say but it was a little out of the ordinary having them on a game drive, can you imagine the picture …) Anyway off we went.J.P was slightly unsure of the decision to pay for a guided drive when we were shown a "dead tree" as our first stop in the game park! Then there was a ten-minute exchange between one of the nuns and the guide as to "why is it so dry?" … "well because it's the dry season" … "Yes but all the trees are dry" … Yes it's the dry season!" … "But all the trees are dead" … "Yes it's the dry season" (J.P was about to jump off and hang himself from one of the dead trees by this point when the nun changed tack … "But doesn't it ever rain?" … "Yes in the rainy season" … "Oh so it does rain!" … "Yes" … "When does it rain?"We nearly joined in with the chorus of "In the rainy season" you could have almost made a song out of it!!!So then we head further in spotting more dead trees until we arrived at a pride of nine lions eating their kill … a baby elephant (sorry Amy).We saw plenty of animals, although it was a bit like we were on a ride following all the other game vehicles round in a circle! At the lion kill there were fifteen at one point all jostling for position. It was easy to see were the animals were because there we lots of other cars round what ever had been seen. This kind of took then fun out of the 'looking for game' game! However we did get to see a lot of animals!
We were just trying to see a leopard in the distant trees when one of the nuns takes out her mobile and starts having a chat!!!It was like trigger happy TV (For all those who have seen the show) "HELLO,Hello Yes I'm on a game drive, watching a leopard!!!" …As if it could be any weirder than your picture of nuns on a game drive you now need to picture a nun on a mobile phone, on a game drive, in the middle of an African national park! (Surrounded by animals and dead trees!)
