What a day today was!!
This morning we had our tour of the Louvre at 9:15 am. We left an hour early to be sure to get there on time, and to have time to wander the parks in fron of the museum. Well, the office of our tour company we were directed to wasn't the office of our meeting point, apparently they have several locations on the same street. After running to the louvre, then to the arch, then back to the right offices, we joined our tour. The French people were so kind to us and helped us solve our problems, they were such welcoming and pleasant people! The Louvre was obviously amazing!! We saw the Mona Lisa in real life, and although there was a mob crowded around it and people say it is impossible to get to the front of it, I of course did. Never underestimate my ability to push through a crowd!! Our tour guide was the nicest lady and showed us all of the highlights including Napoleon's apartments, the Consecration of Napoleon, Venus de Milo, the Kiss of Love, the Raft of the Medusa, the Winged Victory of Somathrace, and Une Odalisque to name a few!
Just outside of the Louvre, we got on our "hop on/hop off" bus tour which cruised around Paris all day long with stops pretty much everywhere, it was so convenient! We took this to Notre Dame which was obviously BEAUTIFUL! and it had free admission! But that wasn't the only free thing we found in Paris... at a cafe for lunch overlooking Notre Dame our waiter served our croque monsieurs with FREE WATER! Hallelujah Praise the Lord! Paris won about 5 million brownie points because of this!
After that we hopped on a bus again and went to the Champs d' elysees and saw the Arch de Triumph! The whole thing was beautiful! I have seen it so many times in movies and here it was in real life!
We then hopped on our bus and went to the EIFFEL TOWER! It was 500 billion times cooler in real life. Literally amazing in every way! We obviously took a rigorous photo shoot in which I coached every sister through a regular, gator chomp, hearts and doves, and jumping posed pic! It was such a blue and pretty day out, the afternoon was perfect! We even saw members of the Swiss Tour de France team popping bottles of champagne and singing cheers on the lawn!
Next we met our Champagne tasting tour on a Seine River boat cruise. It was the perfect way to relax and cool off after a verrrrrry long and busy day! --but it wasn't over yet!
We went back to our hotel, got all cleaned and changed then head out for MOULIN ROUGE! As you can imagine, the Moulin rouge was quite the spectacle! The costumes, glitz, sparkles, and dancing were so fun and entertaining! The only downside was that we were sitting behind an Indian family that insisted on blocking our entire view at all times. With stretching, leaning, and maneuvering we were all able to catch the beautiful performances though!
So in summary, today I went to the Louvre, Notre Dame, walked the Champs de elysees, the Arch de Triumph, the Eiffel tower, cruised down the Seine river, and saw the real live Moulin rouge, ALL IN ONE DAY! How blessed am I? Few people in this world could even dream up the day I just lived today! I am truly in awe of this world, and of Paris, I don't think I could love a place any more!
